    At least he’s trying.

  2. Jeff Davis says:

Why make a video for something that’s not generating revenue..seems like a waste of time and resources..last I checked no one was BUYING mixtapes they can download for free.

  3. King JuggaNott says:

It’s a good way to cut the Record label out of the loop. It’s going back to the essence of Hip Hop. He can put out a mixtape on his own, it gets distributed online for FREE to the fans. The videos are online/youtube/whatever blog you like etc. That keeps fans involved and keeps the artist relevant etc. then come the big part…..since everyone knows the songs, vids and all that….they can do shows with new material. Middle man has been cut out.

Check out that book by KRS ONE the Gospel of Hip Hop…he has an interesting perspective on what I tried to explain.

In short he says that the money making part of hip hop has made what they came for…money, fame and they left it abandon (Nelly, master p etc.) They only wanted the money…so when people say hip hop is dead….its the total opposite. It’s like NOW we have a great chance to empower ourselves and cut the middle man out. We can re create hip hop and take it over and choke out the labels.

Those are not his words. Again…check the book. When I get home I’ll post the page he talks about it.
