Asher pulls up a chair at the Hotel Griffou in New York and explains the title from his latest mixtape, Seared Foie Gras with Quince and Cranberry. Afterward, he gives MTV an on-camera breakdown of “Rik Smits” and “Vagitables”.

Yeah i’ve never been a fan but this mixtape won me over. I even went back and listened to his album which I hadn’t given a chance. Wasn’t crazy about the album although it had some good tracks on there. I think he’s at his best when he’s being real and on some heartfelt, introspective or positive vibe not when he’s on the slapstick, Eminem-lite stuff. From this interview though it sounds like he wants to get away from that and make good music. He definitely has the talent to do so.
I love how hes staying away from what the industry demands these days and keeps it real.

Damn, i LOVE this dude, but i cant help but think, would he still be so focused on “keepin it real” and making such a big deal out of it if his first album had more commercial success? It seems like alooootta people keep the “keepin it real” card in their backpocket just in case the Jay-Z route doesn’t work out. Just a thought. Hopefully im wrong.
