Jay-Z tells the L.A. Times that DMX forced him to step his show game up. Back in 1998, the tandem co-headlined the Hard Knock Life Tour. Next Friday, Jigga will become the first rapper to close out the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California.
“All my early years? Forget it. I was a horrible performer. DMX tore me to pieces. I remember being stunned…He had me really working. But I had to figure this out. If you want to be a headliner, you better put on a headline show.”

Damn that’s a good point DMX was that dude man the first time I saw him on the Survival of the Illest DVD he ripped that shit. He used to really connect with his fans through his performance. Maybe he should start doing small shows when he gets out next time. Just reconnect with his fans slowly before trying to do another album. X got some hits under his belt but every time you hear his name now it’s on some crack headed shit. I hope he gets it back on course he was a great artist at one point…barking aside.
To this day the only thing Jay got over DMX in concert is his catalog…

Demons man…DMX has to stop listening to those demons….they are fighting for that dudes soul man. I like DMX…none of his songs were braggadocio like rhymes….all heart…not saying Jay-Z or any other artist doesn’t put heart into their music. It’s just that DMX is one of the few artists that seems like he made music without the thought of making money behind the shit. All of his music sounded like it was from the heart….
LOL at the only thing Jay got over DMX is Beyonce, spoken like a casual hiphop fan. Jay has better flow, a way better lyricist, longevity, catalog,etc.
Crazy. I had front stage Tix’s to HKL concert and DMX & Meth/Red were the best performance…jigga sucked so bad live, Ive never seen him since. Might have to give him a second shot..pause

Busta Rhymes, Devin The Dude, Nas, Rakim, Mos Def, Jay Elect, Red & Meth, WU, Bun B… all them cats have great stage shows and presence… they toy with the crowd
