MSNBC reports that Jay-Z and his 40/40 club business partner, Juan Perez have filed a lawsuit against Boston Red Sox firstbaseman, David Ortiz for operating a Dominican Republic nightclub called Forty/Forty. According to court documents, Jigga is seeking $5 million in damages. Should’ve been a Yankee. Ha!

1) 6months is not a long time and before you pay to sue for damages… You might to at least make sure the business will be open. So waiting 6mos is no big deal
2) When you own the rights to a brand it’s basically covered internationaly to any gov. that has, or would like to have and maintain, relationship with the US… He’s built a brand. He has 3 locations and I’m sure will expand internationally in the future..

1. iovine and dre just took on a huge venture involving the boston redsox,
2 dre just rebranded a huge product to be sold exclusively to boston redsox fans,–out of all of the different sports, different teams etc, they decided to choose the boston redsox of MLB.
3 a large part of the branding/marketing of this product was going to be the use of the new dre song featuring jayz during boston redsox home games, specifically during david ortiz’ at bats
4. the very same day the dre/jayz song was supposed to come out, jayz sues david ortiz for $5,000,000… not a day before or a day later, but THE VERY SAME DAY
5. the dre song feat jay z didnt come out.
and it it ever does come out it clearly will not be played at any redsox games or during any ortiz at bats due to jayz involvement…furthermore the new headphones are only for redsox fans+ jayz suing ortiz+dre having his huge lead off comeback song with jay z= redsox fans not buying the dre headphones….

1) That would make sense if Jay was suing the Redsox….He is not. And the RedSox Brand is Top 3 in Baseball with or without Ortiz.
2) That Product is geared for RedSox fans…Not exclusive. His product has already been in the market. That in and of it self makes this a non-exclusive deal
3) If Jay doesn’t want to license his music to played….A simple no will suffice. It makes no sense for a man to pay attorney fees in order to stop HIS music from being played…Don’t clear it.
