Continuing his conversation with Soul Culture, Just explains why your remixes these days have lost their true essence. Diddy might have to renew his patent.
“The remix became a marketing tool – and a BDS [Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems] spin generator,” [which calculates multi-platform airplay figures] “so the artform got taken out of it and the dollars got put into it… If you change the beat, the computers that run BDS don’t pick it up as the same song. So the whole point is to get more spins…”
so blaze is a huge part of that based on all the exhibit c remixes, since he OWNS that track and the vocals are irrelevant he caked off that joint like a muthafucka
I always wondered why “remixes” today only added new verses. Most recent one I can think of would be Ne-Yo “she got her own” the remix to miss independent.
