Joell sits down with 1515 and explains the origins of his trademark “Yaowa”, which so happens to be the title of his upcoming mixtape hosted by Green Lantern and Don Cannon.
“I’m just thinking about zoning out,” he said. “I’m not thinking about who I’m reaching out to. I’m not thinking about who to bring to the tape. I’m just thinking about making a really, really good tape. Letting people know who Joell Ortiz is one more time. This time with Green Lantern and Don Cannon. Just rapping, that’s what I do the best. I rap. I’m concerning myself with rippin’ this tape and getting some good feedback on it.”

This guys needs a machine, and musical direction. The bars he can handle.
@ Rhyme u couldn’t have said it any better. Ortiz has one of the dopest flows I’ve heard in a minute, but something is off with the total picture. It’s like his lyrics are fire, but most of his music doesn’t move me. The only record Ortiz dropped that had me wanting to hear another record was that “Awww Man” song with the video. I think Ortiz got the most skills out of Slaughter House hands down.
