Last year, educator Michael Eric Dyson penned a book entitled Born To Use Mics based on Nas’ 1994 masterpiece, Illmatic. Earlier today at the Bonnaroo Arts & Music Festival, Esco gave his take on the project.

Great book, finished it a few weeks ago.
Dyson is a generation before, but he’s still Hip Hop generation. Dudes like 2 years older than Chuck D around Curtis Blow’s age. The start of Hip Hop generation
Nas and Eminem would’ve been a dope collab in 2001. Right after Em did MMLP and Nas did Stillmatic.. The shit would’ve been fire, especially since they had a deep respect for each other since then.

I haven’t read the whole book yet but I started it and its good so far. I think its amazing for an artist to have their work written about by people with the level of respect and education as Michael Eric Dyson.
