John Legend x The Roots Wake Up! Tracklist
John Legend and The Roots are teaming up for a new collaboration this September 21. The project includes covers of Marvin Gaye’s “Wholy Holy” and Donny Hathaway’s “Little Ghetto Boy”. According to Rap-up, John Legend said this of the album.
“These songs sound so relevant now,” stated Legend. “On most of them, you wouldn’t change a lyric. ‘Wake Up Everybody’ has four verses—the first one is a general statement, the second is about education, third is about health care, and the fourth is about making a better environment. No editing needed.”
1. “Compared to What”
2. “Hard Times”
3. “Little Ghetto Boy”
4. “Wake Up Everybody” feat. Common and Melanie Fiona
5. “Our Generation”
6. “Love the Way It Should Be”
7. “Hang On in There”
8. “I Can’t Write Left Handed”
9. “Wholy Holy”
10. “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free”
11. “Shine”
This should be an amazing project .. the roots seem to always come through on collaborative efforts … i still listen tot that jay-z blueprint unplugged
RapRadar hook a nigga up with a J O B !
^ Don’t ask what RapRadar can do for you, ask what you can do for RapRadar.
“How I Got Over” is the shit but it just feels a little short, I’ll be combining this with that. Either way they’re The Baddest Band in the Land.
John Legend’s my dude. I’ve loved his work since his debut album and I can’t wait to see what he does with The Roots. If their tracks on HIGO were any indication though, then this will be pretty wicked.
I seriously cannot wait for this album to drop… it’s gonna be amazing
Especially Wake Up Everybody with Common and Melanie Fiona
and the fact that The Roots are all over this.
EPIC
Cant wait for this shit!
Cosign @Andrew, EPIC is definitely the best term for this onw
