Jay signed a three-year contract to become president and CEO of Def Jam—a position he would leave in 2008 for Live Nation. He offered the rights to the name “Roc-a-Fella” to Dash and Biggs in exchange for the recording masters to Reasonable Doubt, but the pair wouldn’t make the deal. “We all earned those masters,” Dash says.
This turn of events remains bewildering. “The people that I was helping, once they realized their dreams, they did what a criminal would do,” Dash continues. “They stabbed you in the back. Think about the frustration of building a brand for years that should be taking care of your family, and then the person that was the closest to you saying, ‘Nah, you can’t have no parts of it,’ and flushing it.”

well fuck nigga, you should have given him the masters to reasonable doubt. 2+2. he was going to give you ROC-A-FELLA, rights to the ENTIRE imprint (which you didn’t even have before he became pres/CEO) solely for Reasonable Doubt, an album which, creatively, the producers and jay have more rights to than your ass… and you boldly said no.

Child Please!! Once again, this bird raises his head outta the sand. Of all the things he said, he never ever touches on the reason for giving Cam a VP position while Jay was on vacation, or signing ODB without even mentioning it to his “partner” or any of the other shady business he did like spending artists budgets on private jets and bubbly. No way I can feel sorry for him now. Plain and simple, he didn’t play his position and let the “flashing lights” cloud his vision. Rocafella is a hollow shell of a company fully owned by Def Jam…as such, it is Def Jam that has retained the rights to bothe Kanye and Jadakiss…Dame worked out a deal with Def Jam to release the Currensey album under the Rocafella name, but Dame has no ownership of the label or brand….
