Today marks nine years since Aaliyah was tragically killed in a plane crash after shooting a video in the Bahamas. Via email, Missy Elliott reminisced with MTV about her fondest memories with the singer. R.I.P. Baby Girl.
We’ve had so many memorable times. My most memorable is when me, her and Tim wore outfits alike! It was burgundy Pony outfits to the awards. Mind you, Aaliyah was petite so her Pony outfit looked so cute on her, but I kept looking at mine during the awards whispering to her saying, “I feel like a big-ass pony for real!” And we laughed and laughed! Too many memories to state them all! If she was still with us, she would still be at the top. Because she always stayed pushing herself to be better.
RIP thats all dat needs to be said

I remember that day. It was truly a sad day because she had such a bright future to die over something that could have been so easily prevented. I really miss Aaliyah. She has so many imitators but you can’t mess with an original.

Warren Sapp?……*death becomes him*
that made me laugh.
r.i.p. aaliyah.
I miss Aaliyah. I remember the day it happened. Shit was hella sad. 1st time I ever kinda teared uo about a celebrity (hey, I was young lol). But, seriously, if she was still here, she woulda been where Beyonce is, str8 up. F the haters. R.I.P Baby Girl.
Ciara Would Be Flipin Burgers Rite Now if she waz still here
R.I.P.
@Acapella!,
Don’t have to explain pimp, lol. If you were there from beginning to end and DIDN’T tear up then something is wrong with you. Not the other way around. Don’t care WHO you are. Also, there would be no Beyonce. Real talk.
@Dozez,
You hit the nail on the head.
@Aaliyah,
Still miss you.
Aaliyah’s passing was such a tragic event for the R&B music scene as a whole. I’ve been reading a lot of great articles about her today, and this one (http://bit.ly/beZceP) was by far the most informative and touching.
I truly miss Aaliyah and can only imagine how successful she would have been today. Rest in peace and God bless her family, friends and fans.
Rest in eternal peace, Aalayiah. Good die young… Good die young…
