What if? Backstage at Rock The Bells this past weekend, Rakim reveals to MTV that he almost licked a shot at Big Daddy Kane on “Let The Rhythm Hit Em.” He says he omitted the rhyme after speaking to Dark Gable over the phone. Ya don’t say.
It was a couple of bars in ‘Let the Rhythm Hit ‘Em’ that I took out because I spoke to Kane. … But he could’ve been lying. You know how it is, baby! Nah, love is love. A lot of people wanted it to happen — it would have been crazy. But big up to Kane, he always kept me on my toes, and I hope vice versa. And another brother: [Kool] G Rap. Those were my measuring sticks that I measured myself with. Big up for helping me keep my sword sharp.
des old niggaz need to stop beefing!
Yo So Icy Boi!You need to be listening to these old cats and stop riding Guccis’ wackass!!!

IM NOT SAYIN’ THE MUSIC THESE DAYS ISN’T GOOD
BUT TRY TO HEAR RAKIM, KANE, KRS-ONE, KOOL G RAP….OR EVEN BIGGIE AND REALLY LISTEN TO WHAT THEY SAYING YOU WILL BE ENTERTAINED
DO YOUR HOMEWORK HIP-HOPERS
@mac DIESEL it would of been a EPIC FAIL ..to old niggaz battling get ya NY niggaz hype? …
There’s a difference between respecting an artists work because you like it n because you are told to. Aint nobody stuck in the past, good music is good music. Great arguement though, its too old to relate to..lol
“Those were measuring sticks (PAUSE) that I measured myself with (PAUSE). Big up for helping me keep my sword sharp (STOP).”
He told this story in The Source over 6 years ago, around the time he was working on his Aftermath album (Oh My God).
The bottom line Icey Boy is that these old heads would wipe the floor with your new artists such as,Gucci,False wakest flacka, etc…These old cats are the meaning of M.C!!!You pop shit like these cats you defend are good….They really are the meaning of trash and make hip hop look stupid…………Keep riding the Wack wave!!!!I i would rather go back in time to hear real shit, not BULLSHIT!!!
^^^^
#cosign story has been told too many times rapradar is LATE on the news but wit new footage
How hip-hop has digressed..

DON’T HATE ON MY OPINION!!!!!
WOW @HORUS FINALLY SAID SOMETHING RIGHT…….
@ Midnite! …Gucci is good nigga and i doubt des niggaz would win a battle in 2010 …how da fuk i mak hip-hop look stupid??? i dnt control music dumb azz nigga
I never use OMG but OMG!!! Who wins???!!!
Kane would have said some slick shit cause he had a smooth flow, but I think Ra would have crushed Kane if they took it there
This would of been an epic battle! It probably would been remembered as the battle of all battles.
And being on the subject of mic battling, 2day rappers need 2 bring that sh!t back. Too many rappers have that mayweather mentality; think your the shit and don’t want 2 battle anybody!
would have been legendary; but Kane’s punchlines might have given him the slight edge
so icey boi STFU B. UR out of ur element. The 3 mentioned above shaped the hiphop sound we heard in th 90’s, nd early 2000(til the coons took over). U cant call urself a rap fan, make any type of claim, when u dnt even knw where ths shits been.(MARSHMALLOW STANS IM LOOKNG AT U TOO!!)
@Android wtf is you talkin about nigga? …dippin in the koolaid and dnt know the flavor az nigga
Eminem is da best rapper alive!
^ everytime u groupies get mad yall use my Screen name? wow u niggaz sad u can hav it if you want it?
NY niggaz > the south
I agree with Mr. 101. Kane started the ill punchlines. But it would have been a great battle. Set it off, Rath of Kane, Raw – Classics.
I’m not a rapper and i can rap better than even Eminem. Dude voice is like a damn Nerd. Record sales doesn’t mean jack (Mr. Hammer, Vanilla Ice even Nelly) Lol!!
Just kidding…. Eminem is the best rapper ever!
lol
Did u niggas also hear the time the sugar hill gang was gonna diss grandmaster flash??? Ha
I heard kool moe Dee was about to come out with a new mixtape this summer dissin everything that came out after 88′. lol ha
Lol @ Crack yo girls comments
This is almost as epic as the Kriss Kross vs. ABC battle back in the day. Lol
Well don’t expect no Ether type shit. Friendly ass, weak ass gay shit back in his time. would’ve bene corny
“ABC… That’s another bad idea homie.. ”
Damn y’all hear Ed o.g. And da bulldogs almost went in on arrested development. That shit woulda came hard!!!
“Be a father to your child… “
that’s hard to say who would have took that one, as Rakim was just super nice with his technique but Kane rapped like he was always battling. Either way they’re both legends & even if you don’t wanna hear some “old heads” rap now, they should be respected.
@supppppppppp
Is ovbious that you never listen 2 their shit. Listen 2 rakim’s paid in full album and joints like casualties of war and juice. And listen 2
Kane’s long live the kane album as well. That shit is hadder than your current avarage hippop music.
MC Lyte should come out and diss adina Howard for bein a freak all through the night to the early morning… Lol
You can’t pop PAID in FULL in.. No one has a tape player. Ha.
U still walking around with a “Walkman” nigga?
This story is old as hell.. I used to hear about this shit bout 10 years ago.. Rakim got at epmd somthin crazy back in da day..
YEAH IT WOULD’VE BEEN EPIC BUT THINK WE HAD HOV VS NAS. HOV THE SMOOTH MC FROM BROOKLYN (BIG DADDY KANE ) N NAS( THE SECOND COMING OF RAKIM )!
crack girl….. you talk like one of my white bitches that i post up on the internet u faggot lol, u talk like a 21 year old blonde hair white bitch u think u funny go to comedy central web site you little ho. bdk and allah was legends and u wit your little funny comments nigga go boy urself u little street punk!!
That woulda been some interesting bit…
I was going to dis the people that assumed Rakim was talking about battling Kane now, but the article really never made it clear that Rakim was talking about 20 years ago. You’d have to know that Follow The Leader was released in ’88. I will however say that a lyrical battle between these two Hip-Hop Gods even at their advanced age now would still be better than anything current;y out right now. If you don’t know about them, you don’t know about Hip-Hop. It’s like being an American History major and not knowing about George Washington & Thomas Jefferson. You’d be kicked right out.
This really is old news. And not because RA has mentioned it before but because any real old school rap head should know that RA sneak dissed BDK on a couple records back in the day. I just dont know if BDK ever caught on to em tho.
@ICEY BOI- There isn’t a lyricist (a real lyricist) that hasn’t stole or quoted at least one line from both of these cats. Fuck what year it is I’ve been listening to these cats for over half my life. You make hip hop look bad by having an opinion about it. GLEN BECK MAKES MORE SENSE THAN YOU. Now go google Glen Beck so you can undestand what I just said.
P.S.- Don’t speak on Em mother fuckers like you give him a bad name
@ANDROID-
Dude Eminem is more hip hop than the majority of industry cats. He doesn’t run around with a bunch jewelry, put out albums talking about some shit he got from the fame, an club song he’s done has mocked club songs. You need to take a look back and check his material that didn’t get run into the ground by MTV and the radio.
Can anyone give me a reason besides $ why Eric b and rakim split
thanks in advance
