  3. […] Backstage at last night’s final stop of Jay & Em’s “Home And Home” Tour, the RocNation corner stone artist spoke to Angela Yee and spilled the beans to her about the release date of the follow up to his class “The Warm Up”, which is slated to be released sometime in October.  We can all thank Kanye for dropping that ‘Devil In a New Dress”, which Jermaine freestyled over and subsequently inspired him to go on a recording binge.  Good job Ye’.   via – RR […]

  7. ODC says:

the public is highly aware of this guy. i don’t see no point of a mixtape. he just need to drop the album.
but clearly he can’t pick up steam. he’s just cold.

i think they anticipating a Drake, B.O.B kind of expectation for this but he’s never gonna get it.
he ok with it but he’s just not that type of artist, to even sell big. no “mainstream artistic personality”

If they keep waiting for that “buzz” for him they gonna miss the bus, someone else will come and he’ll be dropped in no time. Just drop the album, then build him up on 2nd go around.

  8. sweet L says:

J cole, 2 horns and a halo… just keep elevatin for real hip hop. Yo horuz – you’re crazy if u think dudes flow is boring – its what makes his shit interesting dog.

  9. ODC says:

sidenote: every week Roc Nation signs a new artist but no project dropped aside BP3 (smh).
Jay-z, imo, is bad record exec. he’ proven nothing in that department. Rihana is the only thing he had but really not him, it was Def Jam that blew her up.

as a business men is another thing. I even question his business acumen cause If u got lots of money, make lot investment it’s easy to keep getting money. They keep giving him props for that but all i see is him flipping his money. now that’s hustle for sure, but i’ll be more impress to see him build something for the ground up then i’ll respect his biz skills.

he a bandwagon type of business men. ex: Will Smith kid and most of his moves was something that he didn’t build but jumped into.
ok, i’m sure i’ll hear i’m hating but it’s my assessment, also makesense why non of this artist are dropping albums.

  11. GTFO says:

Cosign ODC.. JAY was quick to hop on a radio show and endorse Willow, but her single was already in rotation. I think he’s trying to do what Usher did with Bieber, but he’s not smart enough for that.

  12. KroniK Ogara says:

J.cole gets respect 4rm the west coz he kip it real…..HIP HOP NEEDS ME

  13. Able danger says:

    @Whorazz
Who gives a fuck about album sales. How many records have you sold? Lupe and J. Cole are over your head like a bulimic on a see-saw. Go meet the cousin of sleep.

  14. I Know Hip Hop says:

A lot of ya got the game fucked up. Jay-z learned his lesson from Bleek, sumtimes a cosign isn’t good enuff n to always plug J.cole it becomes more of I like this guy b/c of jay-z not cuz I like j.cole n in the long run, its hurts an artist career, jay-z n cole both know wat they got keep takin that Kan’Ye Approach n watch this nigga b the next bst thing since Ye

  17. VR says:

    @ODC

Correction: Thats Riahnna, Ne-yo, Ross, Jeezy, etc. that blew up under his watch. Also, Jay and Will Smith have been doing business together for years now. So why not sign WIllow. Dont think that was a bandwagon deal.

But I believe Jay and Cole know what they’re doing though. They’ve heard and seen all of these comments before. Clearly Jay values hard work, and we see Cole is puttin it in. I dont think anyone is expecting Drake numbers out the gate. (but dont sleep). But when the smoke clears and the fad is over….we’ll see who will still be around. and I think thats what Cole is worried about more.

Jay worked from the ground up and got it poppin on his own, while other cats were getting the BIG industry cosign.
First you bubble quietly…and then you blow…..!

  18. Young Mo Fo says:

Ocotber? Isn’t that when he wanted his album to drop?
The one thing I hope is that he didn’t get the Charles Hamilton/Lupe Fiasco treatment, and is at least able to put his album out.
If he releases this mixtape and it sounds like an album, it might actually be the old album, and he might be putting together a whole new body of work. I heard some rappers do that sometimes (Eminem). As long as I get some good quality music to listen to, and Drake should drop another mixtape like So Far Gone. People doubt him now because of TML, and I think he still at least got the talent to make a hoopdie soundtrack. (CAR CD FOR THE DRIVE TO SCHOOL)
Good luck to whoever puts out good music.
And HORUZ you hate on everyone, who the hell do you like?
K.o.D. makes SOME good points, but sometimes sounds like HORUZ.
@I Know Hip Hop Lol, the Bleek experiment? That just shows you that people only listen to music when they like it, not cosign.
That must mean Lil Wayne is good? Sorry to disappoint haters. ROFL!

  19. flawda says:

Why do you niggas act like yall are A and R’s and record label execs, why don’t yall leave the business of hiphop to the business men and just check for music. Yall don’t know what goes into making a artist blow up or the legal stuff that goes on behind the scene. If it was that easy to blow up a artist im sure all labels would do it now.

in 2009 only two rap albums went platinum (Recovery and BP3), stop acting likes it’s normal for artist to go gold or platinum.

  20. GTFO says:

@VR he was just sitting on the chair. He had nothing to do with their success. Only person he personally took credit for was Rihanna.

The Yeezy route wont work, because Kanye paid for a lot of his early videos and extra promotion himself.. Kanye already had his own money from producing 2 years strong under the ROC. Cole still needs that label behind him to finance his movement. But I believe in Cole. He seems focused.

  24. 106 says:

co-sign VR people just love to hate Jay. Who do you think keeps Cole on Tour? How do you even know about Cole? Cole was featured on the best rap album of ’09. Rocked in front of 100,000 fans in Yankee Stadium. Roc Nation doing they job as far as i can tell.

  25. SayAHH says:

sorry gay Cole but that Wayne EP drops sept 27th so aint nobody going to listen to your mixtape until 2 years later so wait a while with that 1

  29. Android says:

bp3 was not the best rap album of 09. No. Not at all.

  34. ODC says:

    @ VR,
Jeezy was from )Boyz N the Hood) Bad Boy, with a gold plaque.
Neyo established thru writing for so many big names in the game already. Easy one for J
So u see my point? He build nothing from the ground up. he goes after those who have an edge already.
Ross is eh, not as succesful as people think. In fact Ross got bigger after the 50 beef which was not in Jay-z hands, but Def Jam.
    My point still stands, homie.
Willow is an example as a bandwagon deal despite his dealing with W. Smith. The point is still he goes after established or advantage situations.

I think you’re equating signing someone to actually being a part of their actual success. Jay-z almost had no hand in all those he sign, with maybe Ne-Yo but it’s still was a bandwagon thing since NeYo was already a big writer.

  35. ODC says:
