Backstage at Constitution Hall on the D.C. leg of Drake’s “Light Dreams & Nightmares” tour, he and manager Cortez Bryant received a pair of platinum plaques for Thank Me Later. This past summer, Drizzy scored his first plaque for his sales in Canada.

One of only platinum rap albums in 2010..congrats for finding a way to feast during a famine….who was the last new rap artist to go platinum with their debut before drake? I honestly couldn’t tell you…off tops I’d have to go all the way back to the 2005-’06 Houston movement when acts like Cham and Mike Jones were going platinum, and that was in a far more favorable sales market

Congrats to Drake. As long as you stay away from all them losers in YM (minus Wayne and Nicki) then I see alot of success and longevity. Drake, Eminem, and Kanye are gonna be the only niggas with platinum plaques this year. I believe Kanye will go PLATINUM before Jan 1, prolly in a couple weeks depending on his first week numbers. Nicki will have a good first week, but once people realize how average the album is…word is gonna spread, and her sales will dwindle, just like Drake. Dude moved 400k first week then dropped almost 60% the next week. Thats why it took him so long. But Kanye gonna put out a dope album, he just need some singles that’ll catch on more in the mainstream and im sure he’ll do 500k then maybe 200-100k in subsequent weeks.
