Walmart Denies Kanye Album Cover Ban

A few days ago, Kanye said his album cover was banned from retail and implied that Walmart had a role in it. EW reached out to the bargain chain and they said they never saw the artwork.
“We’re excited about Kanye West’s new album and we look forward to carrying it in our stores on November 22nd. As always, it’s our standard practice to carry the edited parental advisory version. We did not reject the cover artwork and it was never presented to us to view.”
Well, that’s strange. Shouldn’t matter anyway, on Monday, Ye said there will be five different covers for his album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Def Jam told him he should change it. I think that’s why he had that reaction but they also said they would stick behind him if he went with it. Wal Mart isn’t trying to lose money they know Kanye will sell thus they will put the album on their shelves

I think Def Jam didn’t want to say they hate the cover so they said something like “That cover will not be a good fit in the public eye, Wal – Mart already said they want carry it” Or Wal Mart could be lying.

Its not Wal-Mart, its Def Jam. Kanye leaked his album cover and was a little unhappy that the high-end execs at Def Jam decided to banned his album cover. The label is not allowing Kanye to use this cover as his album cover. Maybe it’s a good idea that Def Jam is not allowing Kanye to use this particular cover as his album cover. Kanye never said wal-mart denied cover so idk why people are acting like he did. He just said they rejected my cover and it’s more likely that it would be the label not walmart.

I think it obvious Def Jam are the ones who had a problem with the cover, perhaps they were anticipating Walmart wouldn’t like it. Wal-mart has the biggest market share of CD’s in the country. That’s why some bands will sometimes exclusively sell their CD’s through Wal-mart. So if your shit ain’t on the shelves there, it’s a big loss.
