All good things must come to an end. And in the new issue of XXL, Dr. Dre says that Detox will be his last recording as an MC.
“As far as me going into the mic booth, that shit is over. I’m always going to talent scout and try to find new artists to work with. But, yeah, that’s it. I don’t see myself doing it the way I’m doing it now…”

Now I know that Jay-Z is now more focused on business than music but that ain’t stopping him from dropping Watch the Throne. Plus T.I. went to jail but he is releasing his album and did you just say where the fuck is Nas? That dude just released a masterpiece with Damian Marley and The Lost Tapes Pt. 2 & his tenth studio album is on the way. Kanye did his part and released an instant classic. Eminem had a great year or we can just simply say that this year belongs to him. There are rumors flying around that Em & Royce will release a Bad Meets Evil album on 2011. Dre is up next. So there’s no way in hell that you can declare Hip-Hop dead or any time soon.

Sounds like a good idea that more producers should entertain. Drop the mic (especially if you don’t write the rhymes), and focus on producing and promoting the actual spitters.

As a teenager, your “idol” was most popular, but growing up in a rough part of the most dangerous city in a third world country, 90’s shit, mostly East Coast (because of Shyne) was always played more on the streets, so that’s what I grew up on. Now though I prefer West Coast.
