FNL‘s foundation is built on strong previously released material (the furious freestyle “Back To The Topic”; the jolting Kanye jack “Villematic”; the marvelous “Premeditated Murder”) and new joints that exhibit Cole’s lyrical growth. Introspection is evident on dope tracks like the boomin’ “Before I’m Gone” and the formidable closer “Farewell”. Although not as potent as its classic predecessor, 2009’s The Warm Up, Cole proves his bars is up and he just might fulfill his promise and shake up the rap game in the next 12 months. One hit away.
