With today marking the first day of Black History Month, Freddie Gibbs shows off his tattoo of Black Panther co-founder Huey P. Newton for Jun Cha’s viral series. Below is a picture of the end result. Leave it to Huey P to have your back.

if Gibbs knew anything about the panthers and ESPECIALLY huey, he wouldn’t have that tattoo. he may have a huey tat, but not one replicating that particular picture.

With all due respect, Nathaniel, if you really knew about the Panthers, you would know what they stood for in the beginning. They weren’t always so militant and violent. But that’s only if you knew.
1. That looks nothing like Huey, more like a wavy haired white version of him.
2. The Black Panther Party WAS a righteous group that stood for the progress of black America. Now its just another racist group along side the Tea Parties and Neo-Con Pro segregation groups.. No different just another shade of hate..

that’s pretty much what i was saying, lol. Huey hated that picture. it was eldridge cleaver’s idea (who fucked the panthers up in a # of ways… sort of a vigilante, never a team player and injected too many of his own personal armed revolution type beliefs into what wasn’t even originally panthers ideology).
huey says that photo haunted him throughout the panthers’s run… and it gave the perception that they just wanted to shoot shit up. (you shouldn’t assume what i know)
and yes, they were always militant. it’s right there in their 10 pt program. they were never violent, they just believed in self-defense. peace.

yep, you’re right. but the New Black Panther Party isn’t The Black Panther Party from the 60’s and 70’s. Bobby Seale has denounced those emtpy-rhetoric spewing idiots on several occasions. they don’t do SHIT but wear black and scream and shout. i see them from time to time. they’re just half-using the original panthers brand. smh
