I’m cool with being the only Talib Stan that frequents RR.
Kweli is definitely one of my favorite emcees of all time, but GR’s was my least favorite album.
Dope!
Talib Kweli is one of the few conscious artists in hip-hop, good art challenges your expectations and people have expectations of him as a conscious rapper. It almost makes it a contradiction for him be purely creative and push the boundaries of the art-form as he is sometimes compelled to do. As an architect I respect his position and understand his challenges but I’ve always been one of those fans who wanted more of “Quality” or “Beautiful Struggle.” He’s evolved as an artist and we have to respect that.
