Peter Rosenberg is still giving us what’s poppin’ out in SXSW in Austin and for the first part of his chat with Odd Future, the collective speak on their transition to stardom in the past few months, rubbing elbows with the stars, Justin Bieber and more.
Hmmmmmm. These dudes are Entertaining no Doubt about that. They makeing the Industry look….. Lol almost Boring now Compared to them. BUT… Im just not Ready to 100% Co-Sign them yet. im going to sit back and see how it goes. But overall I like This Directon. I wont front. When I see they posted up some New shit I check it out. But like I said Im not ready to 100% it just yet.

So basically the prototypical lames from high school made a rap group and dweebs the world over are in love with them? That’s what I’m getting from this whole movement…the whole “hey look at me, we’re different and say crazy stuff for attention and shock value” thing escapes…like i understand how nerdy maladjusted 15 year olds that don’t fit in could fall dig it, but there’s grown men seemingly falling in love with this corny contrived bullshit…meh

Rosenberg is old and lame as fuck. Just because you’re old dosen’t mean you have to be so fucking lame. Stop applying an archaic formula of dick riding to the new shit. Take away the blood sucking leech corporations living on the life force of creative people and you’re left with kids that could give a fuck about the machine and advertising revenue.
If you dig in your hip hop history there was another group of prototypical lames from high school that made a rap group that dweebs the world over fell in love with called the Native Tongues. Not really comparing the movement aesthetically: same concept different execution.

Real talk, outside of Tyler this whole OFWGKTA is downright disgraceful.. Hodgy, Earl and Frank Ocean can hold their own. But the rest of them can’t even make a full sentence without looking at Tyler for approval. Look at the Woodie Awards, Tyler jumps into the crowd and all of a sudden they all want to jump in the crowd. Syd just persistently insists on making herself look ignorant as fuck. No, it’s not cool that your vocabulary goes as deep as “Fuck school” or “Fuck rap” Jesus, read a book.
Real shit, that Yonkers track was dope. Mostly because of the presentation. Video was super tight and took off his career on a real level. I watched that shit and started checking for him, downloaded all the OFWGKTA mixtapes off the strength of one song. That’s a feat right there he accomplished… to have that much charisma. That’s what Tyler is about.. charisma. I enjoyed the Hodgy mixtapes more. I don’t know if they’re gonna last. They have shock value and originality, albeit an obvious attempt to be “different” but whether or not they have lasting value is yet to be seen.
I have to agree, Tyler is the smartest one of the group, Hodgy is tight, Earl…..is the best if he ever comes back, Frank Ocean is legit, but the other do seem to seek approval, but fuck it, they are young and they are doing shit I wish I could have done.
