DJ Quik finds himself sandwiched between a couple of eye candies on this week’s issue of LA Weekly. Below the print paper follows the Compton Alumni through his hood. The Book Of David is in stores now.

Sitting in his studio in a Papa Smurf t-shirt, or sliding through Compton in his gleaming black Mercedes, DJ Quik talks about driving through Crip territory as a Blood, Eazy-E’s offer of a million dollars to sign, and his disbelief that he’s still alive. It’s a trip through his hood, but also his life.

This man is a LEGEND
I read the article earlier at the laundromat. I had no idea about how many terrible things he had witness and gone through. He’s one of the greats.
My favorite rapper, my favorite producer, my favorite artist, my favorite player. Dj Quik is the best there is. A true player, a cool dude, and a REAL ARTIST. “shouts go out to me. I love me DJ Quik. Fuck the World!”
Quik over Dre no doubt put it in your mouth.
The best from the West. Period. Dude’s discography shits on a lotta niggas, regardless of record sales.

Quick taking it back to where it all began…
living legend!! very, very underrated musician!! i probably bought Quik is the Name and WAY 2 Fonky at least 5 times a piece. Who use to rock the 2nd II None album?
If there wasn’t a Dr. Dre it would have been Quik……
stop comparing dre to quik. both are totally different producers, they both got a different style and they both are unique.
