Two days ago, John Singleton’s masterpiece, Boyz N The Hood turned 20 years old. Ice Cube, who made his acting debut as “Doughboy”, spoke to mtv on the film’s impact two decades later.
“The movie holds up. The movie had been used as a tool to teach people about the ‘hood that they may not know about,” he said. “I think the movie is a definite classic, it definitely holds up, it’s definitely as potent today as it was back then. The message is definitely as clear today and needed as it was back then.”

Boyz N The Hood is a staple in Black Cinema. Its a eye opening film thank you Mr. John Singleton.

Y’all wanna see a dead body?
#CLASSIC
Niggas in da Hood: niggas in the hood carry guns. If they pull it out then you better run. White tees and saggy jeans, money by any means. The dopeboy ride is clean. The hoodrats fuck, get knocked up. Walk around with beer bellys while they niggas get locked up. Its all a survival game, gettin money buck the fame. If you look down on the hood then you lame.
Definitely a certified classic flick. Still as powerful today as it was 20 years ago.
