  22. Subaru says:

this is not the one Wale

  23. Subaru says:

oh yeah BTW, the cover art looks great but that’s about it…miss me with the track…I already kno it’s a “GOING TO MY RECYCLE BIN” type song.

I also don’t like that clown J Cole…he tries so hard to be the Antitheses to Drake. This is one of the reasons why his career is going nowhere.

  24. TNoche says:

    @ subaru
you are a damn ignorant fool! J Cole is one of the best rappers out. He’s not just a lyricist, he’s also a producer and on top of that a good guy. Finally someone who’s not a gangsta rapper or money, cars and hoes type of rapper. I bet you’ve nor listened to any of his songs neither informed yourself about him and his background

  25. brutally honest says:

eehhhhhhhh …… well see how Warner manipulates radio to get this ok single pushed. Cause at YN (MMG’s mascot) stated “Ross has great hooks” lllooooollllll

  26. PWR says:

Nice lookin on the artwork. Lets see what MMG Wale do with it…

    http://powerrespect.com/

  27. RC says:

It just gets worse for Cole……

  28. Truth says:

I AM A HUGEEEEE J. COLE FAN…I must say he’s falling off my radar a record pace. The last three song I heard from him were “Industry Nice” but otherwise lack luster. I feel nothing when I hear some of this stuff. He’s gotta hit us with something hard soon. Damn.

  29. relhm says:

You niggas know nothing about the business side of music. This shit right here is a hit. It goes hard as fuck and I can only imagine how it sounds in the club. Cole needs to blow up with songs like this so people can get his deeper songs.

I smh at niggas who think Return Of Simba or Lost Ones should have been the single. Got damn..

  30. Word says:

I see the hate for Cole hasnt slown that. Keep going guys thats more motivation for him.

  31. Word says:

@RC I thought you was a fan at first that just offered constructive criticism but you coming off like a hater now after each and every post. Its getting worse for Cole? How can you say that off 30 seconds? Why not criticize Wale too. Stop singling out Cole and just admit you hate the dude. Dotn try to pass it off like you wanna help him and see him succeed. Even on that other post where hes just talking, all you could focus on was his demeanor in the interview. So he tripped over his words. Big deal. Hes a colleg grad, im sure that dont happen often.

  32. Truth says:

@Word…Not attacking you but It actually does take an average of 30seconds to decipher if you like a song of not. Even less if you know what you may like in a particular brand of music. There was a through study on it that concluded this.

Yes there are/will be haters on ya boi. But I truly think this particular song is in limbo when it comes to “J Cole good” or not. Personally I dont think you have to go so “industry” to produce a radio/club hit necessarily. For instance take Lupe’s “Superstar”. At the end of the day it was a conscious song that was able to reach the club community. There is no formula or “Type” of song for the club.

    What you think my dude?

  33. Truth says:

@”Fake” Truth…Change your name plz. I’ve been truth for years bro. One

  34. The Real Truth says:

  51. Word says:

I knew you niggas would combine this with the old post instead of giving it its own post.

Either way, full version is dope. Cole and Wale both came correct. This shit is gonna be in all the clubs. “Blow trees like a hurricane”. This shit is only gonna help Coles buzz while giving Wale some more buzz for his shit. Win-Win for both parties.

    overall 8/10

  62. DJ says:

Seems like J. Cole and Wale trying to hard to make radio/mainstream music & not being themselves.

  63. flawda says:

How are they not being themselves, have you heard Higher, In the morning, and other joints. Maybe you (DJ) should stop trying to box them in as artist and allow them to make all types of shit.

Ya’ll act like all these mfs have to make is deep shit all the time

  64. Fela Kuti says:

  68. Bx Slime says:

This is a hot record. Damm J.Cole has been stepping up his production skills, hilariously this is gonna give him a bigger buzz than “Work Out” and Wale did his thing as well. I think we got a summer hit…

  69. HOOD says:

    okkkkkkk great song

  72. JDot says:

    Dope..

    Cole World!!!!!

  73. DJ says:

    @flawda

I appreciate when artist make different types of songs! One of my favorite rappers is 2Pac he made “changes” but he also made “I Get Around” both songs being equally good with different subject matters.

This song to me is sort of the 101 on how to make radio friendly songs. Work Out was even worse than this. I don’t mind artist being different or going over different subject matters just as long as the song is good.

  74. TheCool says:

THIS is the type of beat Cole shoulda used for his single. The Work Out beat is aiight but that shit sounds so “thin” if he was attempting a radio single. “Higher” had much more mainstream appeal.

and am I the only one noticing Cole changing his flow? That shit is dumbed down so much on this and Work Out… I hope it’s only for the singles.

Anyway, idk. Im feelin’ the hook and the production on this shit… Not sure about the verses.

  75. DJ says:

    @flawda

Oh yeah….and “higher” and “In the morning” are dope songs and way better than this song or “Work Out”!

  76. T.O. says:

    this > j cole’s work out smh

    sounds good though

  77. Word says:

Actually after listening to it some more, Wale = J.Cole on this. Also, J.Cole LOVES giving His best beats to other ppl. I never seen a nigga give all his best beats away to other ppl and keep the decent ones.

Bad Girl Club > Work Out can’t from. But Cole either way as producer or rapper

  80. YaaaBitch says:

First time Wale killed cole on a verse on a song.

  81. JOhn says:

    Song’s a hit!

  82. Cane says:

its straight, let BIG KRIT PRODUCE…. dat nigga can produce

  83. phraynkhp says:

    cole world #nodaysoff

  84. Word says:

@TheCool Yeah im noticing that too, but I think hes just tryna make his flow more easy to digest for casual rap fans to listen to and understand. You cant try to sell records with complex flows and metaphors that the avergae rap listener just isnt gonna get. We get it, they get it, so thats double the fans. He wants those moments when you in the club and the DJ stops the beat and everyone fills in the blank withi his lyrics. Thats what he searching for so I understand the change of flows and the way he structuring his verses. Im pretty sure the album is gonna be how we use to hearing him

  85. Jordan Cohen says:

wacksauce. All this singing is not the business.

  86. fg says:

listen to this, then listen to rick ross BLOW from his 1st album!! its the same chord progression!! J cole, come on!! beat is cool but, its too similar to that cool n dre beat BLOW!

  93. Jaymalls says:

It aint half bad but i hate how J. Cole used the same melody as Rick Ross’s song “Blow” (Ft. Dre) -> also Mariah Carey (Ft. The-Dream) “My Love.” Those are elementary school melodies… he a better producer than that! SMH @ the Polow Da Don Kick tooo!!!!

lol too many negroes are on j. cole’s prick. sorry but that dude is a fuckin fake artist. he only had one girlfriend is his whole entire life and he’s singing about hitting it in the morning with a girl he in never in his life and and rapping about hoes in the club. lmfao at all yall 30 years olds and corny ass black girls thinking he’s the new tupac or 50 cent. j.cole is a gay mother fucker and who will be one big ass one hit wonder. pretty soon he’s just gonna have naked pictures with drake, trey songz or that dike rihanna.

  101. Codeen says:

  104. Imnotahater says:

Hmmm… Not really sold on this one.. but I wanna see Cole win… so Ill pay for the song on Itunes/Amazon or whatever.

I just think Cole has not found his true sound. The boy can rap and do a show. But his real sound hasn’t been discovered yet and it shows. The identity doesnt translate to the people. The one thing I do like about Cole is that he has potential to GROW as an artist. That’s something that you dont see to often, In any era of Hip-hop/rap

***Wale killed this, and his growth has shown in his flow and bar quality.

  108. Politickin P says:

Its funny how a non emcee (kid cudi) stated Wale wasn’t as talented or creative so that’s why kanye didn’t produce anything for his solo debut…now as a hip hop artist producer and engineer I disagreed with that statement because the more about nothing mixtape about nothing series and I enjoyed his first lp but since then every verse on self made was terribly weak plus he allowed 3 non lyricist to outshine him on records smdh…his only decent verse in recent memory was on 4am with black cobain…This record here is meaningless lyrics are completely lackluster from Cole as well however I know Colds album will be awesome…back to Wale this man is so sensitive he debates with fans on twitter when they don’t like a record…a true fan is objective enough to depict when they don’t care for a record…a true fan doesn’t embrace every record as hot or else he/she isn’t a true fan. The word hate is extremely over utilized in our culture it truly sickens me. Hate is when you wish bad on a mans livelihood or on his family or if you attempt to stop him from receiving allocated funds hate is not disliking a record…disliking a record is a mere opinion…maybe because im a law student jargon is essential….Finally Wale has lost all autonomy as an artist he has no identity anymore, this is why he chases hit records…a hit record should never be forced…a studio session should be based on making what’s on a artist heart and if it comes out to be a hit so be it…the person who gave the lupe reference was dead on….I could list millions of records in the past few yrs that were pop 40 hits that are just great records and not club tracks….this doesn’t say dance at all I couldn’t see this played at a bbq let a lone a club but since I never attend clubs I could be wrong. Finally the first to bars. Sound familiar because Wale sounds like the non rapping weirdo he forshadowed he lacked talent with his montone flow guess Kid Cudi was accurate with his statement….see how I connected the paradigms or like the music I make that may of flew over heads

  109. dmv says:

yo Polictikin P, i dont know if ur a wale fan, but if u were u would completely understand what ADD means and what it meant for Wale…attention deficit, hes not saying he cant focus on one type of music, but he wants to hit all subjects, emotions, i mean if u were a true wale fan u would understand his first hit song, in the dmv, was dig dug (shake it) a gogo song about dancing and shit

  110. Ac@pella! says:

    Ehh, it’s ok. Nothing spectacular.

  111. Politickin P says:

@dmv I am a die hard Wale Fan I live and attend Law school in the dmv area…A.D.D. was speaking on how basic hip hop listeners either wont or don’t care to listen to creative conceptual rap…they rather hear records like “No Hands” (which lyrically Wale still was solid on) The gogo, Mark Ronson, soulful electic production suits Wale Style…Wale has been touching all subject matters he does so on His debut, More About nothing, Mixtape Nothing, as well as his early projects I heard back when I was in undergrad from 04-08… Furthermore Shake still had decent content…there is no excuse to be lackluster despite with kind of record it is…lots of rappers make jit records and simplify their lyrics but the content is still strong…A true Wale Fan critiques the music objectively…but I see your point ….if you want check out my project on itunes and give your honest assessment…. compasslife on itunes here’s the link http://t.co/RTNlcOk.
