After releasing the album’s tracklist last Sunday, Cole keeps his Any Given Sunday series going with two tracks that won’t appear on the album. Happy Labor Day.

Cool songs but nothing great. Though these aren’t album cuts I’m starting to think the hype is greater than Cole’s ability to make hits. I’ve heard slightly above average head-nod music but nothing I NEED to play again. I’m not talking about good radio hits, but something I want to spend $12 on. Haven’t heard it from him so far.
Btw Cole cant produce for shit…Stick to ghostwriting jermaine. Hiipower was the only decent beat he produced.

What kills me is that J. Cole can actually make a pretty good rap hook, he just needs to realize that he can’t really sing. I know he’s trying to do it all himself, but it’s cool enough to just be a rapper/producer; go ahead and let somebody else do the choruses. That goes for you too, Kanye.

I’m gonna get both Cole World and Live From The Underground on the 27th, because even if they’re awful (they won’t be) I still feel like I owe them for their underground work. I’ll give them both a listen, and then I’ll go pick up a few more copies of whichever one lives up to my expectations. If either one is as good as they have the potential to be, I’m sure I’ll be giving out a few copies at Xmas; might as well show my support and pick em up first week. If both are great, as I’m hoping/expecting, I’ll pick up extras of both. Music won’t change without the numbers.

@Bklyn’s Have you heard “The Warm-Up”? I think he raised the bar way too high with that mixtape because every rap project after that (not just J. Cole) sounds weak to me. I guess when you make a classic like The Warm Up, its hard to meet expectations. The album should be dope though

I don’t know about this dude. One minute he will blow u away with something dope like “Return of Simba” or “Who Dat”. Then he will come wit some amateur sh-t. The problem I think is when he tries for a mainstream hit, he seems to have trouble in that department. When he keeps it hip hop is when he shines. He’s trying to force his self to fit into a dumbed down mainstream market which takes away from his energy, He lacks versatility in that area.
