Someone on an earlier post said th9is album was good just not a classic. I disagree. Just because it was really slept on doesnt mean that it wasn’t a classic. I lost this album twice already and i’m about to buy this anni edition. I’ll say that Lasers was forced and tacky and i’m a big Lupe fan. Hopefully this realease reminds us what we like about him in the first place.
Does anybody know if the bonus tracks are new, unreleased, or old shit? Unreleased- I might just cop this again. New- I’ll download the bonus tracks. Old Shit- I’ve probably already got it.
PS- How am I gonna pre-order an album that’s already out?
Classic gets thrown around too much. They say that now about albums they havent even heard yet. Loved this album. It sits in my ipod among the other 4000 songs
I Woke This Morning and Had a Classic Breakfast On My Classic Table. The Milk Was So Underated

Dope. About to listen it again.
Definitely need to cop this.

5 year anniversary edition?
No one in the history of hiP hop has ever done anything as stupid as this. Wait another 5 and make it 10 years like all the greats g. Come on lupe
Heyhey fuck you
Damn lots of hate on lupe, this album was great hopefully people buy this so we can show them what real lupe fans want.
such a great album.
shit aint no classic assholes just a swagless nerd who can rap
Album of the decade.
five years is way too short for an anniversary release of an album that didnt even change the culture. Mr Fiasco, try again.
Amazing album….back when Lupe wasn’t such a pretentious prick.
PISSED.. I was just about to buy it when I read the tracklist and realised that I have all the bonus tracks on my iTunes already. KMT… Shame really. Hopefully a physical of the album comes out. I’ll cop it for the artwork.
This doesn’t really need a re-release but it’s nice they finally put out tracks that were on the leaked version of Food and Liqour.
fuck off lupe…
Lupe’s a beast with it… great album, definitely one I go back to over and over. Dope music.

All of those bonus tracks came with the album that I got at best buy when it came out.
this album will stand the test of time. Half of everything that has come out since and probably the majority of all what you bottomfeeders have been listening to will not.
can someone tell Lupe to stop commenting under multiple names bigging up his mediocre shit? Stop it Wasalu!
lupe decided to re-release his debut album because some fuckboys forgot about his huge talent!!!!!!!!! REAL HIP HOP NIGGAS!!! FUCK LIL GAYNE, FUCK DRAKE, FUCK OFFICER RICK ROSS!!!
this may count as one of his albums on his atlantic deal….if so, this is a SMART fucking way to put out another album without atlantic fucking him……and in the process put some newer fans who only bought lasers onto his classic material…………glad he included theme music to a drive-by, hopefully i can finally get a good quality version of that ish….
ps: anyone who calls this album mediocre doesn’t know hip-hop……..there is literally no response to that comment…so don’t pester me with one….
^^^^^^^
thats how you spot the bitches folks.
“If you dont like/know _________________, then you dont like/know Hip-Hop.”
And no one “pestered” you about anything.
and @killacam
i dont cosign the cats you mentioned, but if a talent is “huge”, it cant be forgotten. There’s a difference between Good, Great, and Classic. Lupe is Good to all, great to a few, and classic to none. just being honest.
^It’s amazing that you actually found a way to lie while discussing opinions, AND while claiming to be honest, but you somehow pulled it off. You tried to claim that Lupe is “classic to none,” when in fact you have several people on this same exact page calling F&L a classic, and then you ignorantly framed your comment as if you spoke for them. Congratulations, kid, you’re amazingly stupid.
^^^^^^
why’d you change your name just to address me? you’re the typical Fiasco fan.
Fiasco fans are mostly misled people (not all mind you, just a lot) where they feel Lupe has “changed the game”, though he has done nothing different from the other underground emcees who had a mainstream platform. Fiasco fans are the same people who will yell 20 different emcees as “TOP 5 DEAD OR ALIVE!!!!!” despite the fact that its obviously impossible to make such claims. Lupe had the potential to change the game earlier on, but his momentum stalled with his label politics which he unfortunately made a public spectacle of himself of. On top of that, his latest album which he one day loved, then hated, then loved again, and changed again got him his most shine, to which he squanders his press yet again. Yet you Fiasco fans defend him again, even after he goes on TV and makes himself look like an idiot. Lupe is fast approaching Game status and you Fiasco fans are in denial
and on top of all that, to all the people yelling “Classic” all over the place, what has Lupe done to be deemed classic? Please use better reasoning than your spokesman up there. tsk tsk.
^I change my name almost every time I post a comment. If that bothers you, I really don’t give a fuck.
I started to read that mess, and then I noticed that you STILL haven’t given up on speaking for other people who you clearly do not represent, so I stopped reading, because all your your points are immediately and automatically invalid. It is interesting, however, that someone who cares so little about Lupe Fiasco and who feels so passionately that he is irrelevant has been e-stalking the same Lupe article for almost an hour.
I had follow up comment notification plus someone tried to subliminal shoot at me, so i acknowledged it. You then put a piss poor argument to defend your savior with another shot at me, i gave you great points to add to my claim and you’re trying a cheap dismissal. If I was you, I’d blindly do the same thing as well, so tell you what. Keep being a good Fiasco fan. With the reasoning above, you guys provide good entertainment.
@big ben
“even after he goes on TV and makes himself look like an idiot”
i think you’re the idiot because you obviously didn’t understand what he said
Ahhhh yes I didnt understand what he said, it completely flew over my head…..smh…. ahhh you guys are something else:

Ok, I went back and actually read your garbage, and the only points that you made that weren’t specifically dependent on other people’s fabricated opinions were completely related to promotion, not music, which really just pushes your blatant ignorance over the top. In fact, you actually admitted to the game-changing potential that he had in his early career, which is somewhat hilarious considering you started your idiocy on this page by calling his first album “mediocre”. It couldn’t be more obvious that you just blindly hate the guy and for some sad reason you think you’re smart enough to bullshit your way through an argument, but you’ve clearly overestimated your ability to put together a decent point. I’d love to stay and educate you on the disconnect between promotion and audio, but that’s actually bullshit, and I can’t wait to end this conversation out of fear that your flaming stupidity might be contagious.
Have a great night, kid. Try to learn something tomorrow; you need it.
But… that album… is… not… a… classic.
@KillaCam
I understood what he said….and he sounded like a 16 year old high school student.
you are a sheep then. plain and simple. I’m not referencing promotion, I’m referencing perception. Perception is key. The soul of any form of music is the perception which reflects on the heart. At different points in time, Lupe himself said that he didn’t want Lasers supported by the fans and that it wasn’t his vision. Why should I respect a project if you the creator doesn’t respect it either? Yet when it sold the way it did, he twisted his words back and forth. Makes perfect sense.
About the game-changing potential, this was based on his mixtapes before the album and features as well, but when the album came, it wasn’t as thought provoking as it was made out to be. It was good to all, great to some, but that album is by no means a classic, hence my statement still stands. All you’ve done is run to Google to quickly enhance your vocab for a long paragraph of nothing. You keep calling me kid, but I’m quite sure I’m even older than you. College Dropout was a classic and a game changer. Get Rich or Die Trying was a classic and a game changer. As much as I hate Lady Gaga, FAME came out way after Food & Liqour and that was a game changer (I’ll reserve the word Classic as it’s still too soon) and people across all forms of media formats switched up their shit because of her. See the trend here? All 3 of these albums made people go and switch their shit up, made them go back to the drawing boards and none of them have even done any “Anniversary releases” yet, yet Wasalu does. And when someone calls you his fans on the bogusness, you guys go ape-shit.
Like I said, keep it at it. I’m loving the LULz.
^^^^^
and that was for my apparent fan, not James or Smokeyou
ez big pen. You starting to look like a loser/ undercover lupe stan out here. You have good points… just dont keep falling deeper n deeper into their trap.
P.S. This album was NOT A CLASSIC. Yes im a Lupe fan… yes i bought his first 2 albums… yes me and my friend would try and dissect the cool… and yes he is a talented lyricist. F&L hasn’t changed the culture, hasn’t changed the way producers produced or the way artist approached a beat. It didnt start a rift, nor did it start a movement. If you look @ the top albums in the past decade.. its not even in the Top 10, and im not basing that statement on sales.
Food and Liquor is not a classic, but The Cool has the potential to be.
Not only is it a 5th Anniversary re-release, but it’s DIGITAL ONLY. Hilarious. So it comes with a new JPG of the artwork and four songs that came with it when it first came out?
If any rapper had a fanbase that would buy up a re-release CD/vinyl with cool new packaging and good bonus content, it’s Lupe.
Like almost anything rap-related these days, swing and a miss…
@James & @big ben, no you didn’t get what he said…you’re too dumb to understand it! he speaks the truth but you hear just blah blah! his language is too high for ya! face the fact!
ps: big ben is the name of the clock tower bell in london dumbass smh
i read through all the comments and Lupe got some crazy stans in this piece
Soldier boy is dat you?
