B.Dot In Tha Carter IV Roundtable
September 14, 2011 @ 12:46 PM EDT
News
Before Lil Wayne’s new album reached platinum, Allindstrom and The Source, gathered Combat Jack, Angela Yee, Jeff Sledge, Big D, and our own B.Dot for their views on its music, sales, rumors as well comparing it to The Throne’s LP.
The Carter IV is for kids fom the suburbs and skateboarders not people from the hood coming up
Dope. C4 and Take Care next!!
Fuck u mean nigga! this is all we play in the hood young blood
smfh -_-
Just because an album reaches Platinum,
doesn’t mean you guys have to have a round table talk about it….like it’s the greatest album ever made!
People are so stupid nowadays.
it sold a Milli. congrats, was it any good? hell to the NO!
ANY album out this year>>>>>>>>>>>>>Carter IV
Just my 2 cents..
Lil’ Wayne is McDonald’s. So true.

this big d guys #s are way off how to love isn’t double platinum yet and rebirth isn’t platinum yet . . . shouts to sledge keep doin your thing
Bdot take the durag off.
better than c3
C3 > C4
Haters click on every post just to repeat what they said the last Wayne post. We get it. U dnt like Wayne. Now go bump ur underground sensations
I haven’t heard shit from this album, nor people talking about it besides these websites .
Carter 4 sales were manufactured.
The record industry, RIAA, SoundScan, Clear Channel are the music version of the Securities Exchange Committee.
C4 >>>>>>>>>>
I like this. I wish there would be more album discussion for intelligent critics who actually have valid points. I dig this.
Wayne is for the average person. Jay-z is for the intelligent person.
JAY-Z = BEST RAPPER ALIVE
All they do in the hood is play Lil Wayne. Thank the skies above me I live in the suburbs lol
P.S. Fuck that wannabe Mexican/Nigga Amaya
Section 80 > C4 just saying…
and did that nigga in the middle really say Wayne is the rap version of MJ? Why nobody reacted to this at the table? SMH
shout out to B.Dot rocking that durag like it aint nothinnnnnnn lolol
and last thing ; some1 hook me up with ANGELA…I swear i’ll treat u like a queen shorty. shes on my list no doubt!
Jay-Z – The Streets Is Watching
“Look, if I shoot you, I’m brainless
But if you shoot me, then you’re famous — what’s a nigga to do?”
weak ass round table talking about nothing.1 dude lied about waynes numbers.but yeah that is true he only sold 44,000 copies in the north east.cause we dont fuck with jeggings
@Black Shady
Nobody overreacted to it because he made a good point with the MJ thing. Watch it again and take off the hater glasses.
Wow, that was somewhat of a dope discussion. B.Dot had some valid points (everybody did, except for dude saying Wayne was the rap MJ. NO!) Put it like this: McDonald’s will be put in your face all the time, but only the smart people know not to eat that shit all the time.
Filet Mignon > McDonald’s
realest shit said is that Lil Wayne is “Mcdonalds” its not real, he lacks substance
really? no comments on a man exiting his home with a durag strapped on his head in 2011?
Wayne was the best rapper when he wasnt selling records. the people buying his album are just late comers, loyalist ,and fucking bandwagon ass americans
Du rag’d B.Dot is a cutie. So is Angela. I’d do ’em both!
I dunno about yall, but #Section80 was the best LP of the year that I heard. C4 is cool I guess. I like how nobody ever talks about his lyric content though…just his sales. What do you get out of his good sales? Nothing. What do you get out of good lyrics? Knowledge, Entertainment, etc etc etc. Lets talk more about his lyrics then his sales. Sales matter, but they dominate the discussion too frequently.
In related news, theres a Top60 Worst Wayne punchlines that you can Google. Dont agree with some, but the other 50 were garbage.
Worst line off the album? “You dont wanna mess with Wayne, cuz when it Waynes it pours” Sooooooo corny. None of you Wayne stans can tell me that shit wasnt corny? Come on. I did like that “We jack son then light up the L, Samuel” line though.
wayne is terrible, anyone that likes him doesnt know shit about music. every one in ymcmb sucks and needs to quit
@word
did u even listen to the video? they were talking about his lyrics. you just saw the title and made a big ass assumption.
And about his sales drop, doesnt really matter.
See, we put so much empahasis on the first week sales because most of you niggas lack the attention span to keep up with the following sales. Either way, we just wanna hear about the milestones. Was it #1, First week sales, Did it go Gold, Did it go Plat., How many times Plat., etc etc etc. That being said, Eminem is sitting on like what? 5 Million Domestically? Wayne has a good start but he doesnt really finish well in terms of overall sales. I think Recovery even has more records sold than C3 and that came out like 3 years ago!
This nigga Em sustained sales from MMLP and TES and made them bitches go Diamond. No other rapper is going Diamond anymore. Fact. Wayne can have the first week sales and platinum plaques, this nigga Em got Diamond ones. But hey, aint Waynes teeth made out of Diamonds? *shrugs*
@ridalen
I was referring to the ppl in the comments section, not the ppl in the video. You just made a big assumption that I made a big assumption. Good one
Lots of good points. There should be more discussions around albums like this. One thing that didn’t add up is when they said “it’s so easy for kids to get Wayne’s album…one push of a button and they have it”. Yah that’s true, but then how do you explain the 600,000+ physical records that were purchased in the first week? That’s almost twice the digital sales and involves a kid actually going to a Best Buy to stand in line behind a guy buying a fridge to buy a $15 disc that is 5 bucks cheaper online…
he’s the greatest punchline rapper in my generation. but thats it. people can relate to his cheap suburban white boy swag.
@Kali_MH
Cosign. It was real surprising that Wayne sold double his digital sales. His physical copies alone were more than WTTs overall sales I think, or at least equal to it. Congrats to that man, but his lyric content will forever be weak to me.
Wayne has a lot of new fans. he had the opportunity to open up about a lot of different subjects. every album is different and hopefully he’ll learn to share his experiences and emotions on his next lp.
Bdot you rich, take that durag off! LOFL.
wayne made this album…for young white kids…
…
Walmart giving out $1,000 giftcards, becuz of a defect on 10,000 computers .. http://goo.gl/wupAx next 24 hours only..shit i got 2..lol
As a lil wayne fan i agree to alot of the comments made in this video such as the all over the place style used however i do feel that there are more structured tracks than just how to love for example mirrors, night mares of the bottom and president carter. However what was not mentioned is how all over the place watch the throne was aswell. i mean i bought WTT and there was a lot of all over the place off topic tracks. These days rappers r lookin for punchlines and metaphores a perfect comparison from tha carter 4 and watch the throne is Blunt bowin and N*****s in Paris both completely off topic but a good sound a hooks.
INCOMING TEXT FROM mac DIESAL AND IT READS:
“B DOT TAKE THAT FREAKIN DURAG OFF STOP BEING ASHAMED OF YOUR HAIRLINE AND HEAD SHAPE!!!”
….HA!!!! BTW CARTER 4 IS TRASH!!!
“WE TYPE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON IN THE OFFICE COMPUTER IS STUCK”
DONT HATE ON ME OR MY OPINION!!!
i wish they would do more album reviews …
yee aint no valerie though lol
Lil wayne is the goat!
really enjoyed the vid.. should do these more often
“Thirty-eight revolve like the sun around the earth” – Jay-Z
Jay is retarted ^ i think its bigger problem then waynes corny rhymes from time to time.

and this website is filled wiht guys who dont understand that the general public isn’t hiphop heads and doesnt try to understand shit. thats why hiphoppers make albums for hiphoppers.
Uh Wayne is 29 not 27
Quality > Quantity. I’m sure Wayne is a cool person but his music is not for me.

Damn, this is pretty nice.
If McDonald’s is all I can afford, that doesn’t mean I’m going to stick with that shit. I’m gonna save up so I can at least eat at Burger King or Wendy’s. When the real money comes, I’ll get into stuff like Whole Foods or even cook the meals at home myself. See the analogy?
Eminem has been “McDonalds” for the past 7-10 Years…..
Wayne = pizza hut…
They`re talking about everybody accept Eminem, why is that ? Becouse he`s white?
Fuck that.
Em IS the NO.1 Rapper of all time. No talk.
waynes album is better then watch the throne. FACT!
President Carter is the best song on the album though.
Gotta admit, they were all right on.
[…] Read the rest of this great post here […]
That shit was cool but I disagree with Wayne being the trend setter for 15-30 I’m 22 I would never ever come out the house looking like Wayne
GOOD ROUND TABLE! THESE ARE THE CONVERSATIONS I HAVE EVERYDAY TOO SO ITS INTERESTING TO SEE DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEWS.
B. DOT GOOD LOOKS ON MENTIONING REGIONAL SALES. NEW YORK HATING ON WAYNE!!
ALSO B. DOT MENTIONING HOW WAYNE DIDN’T TALK ABOUT HIS REAL LIFE STORY AT ALL. THAT WOULD OF MADE THIS A CLASSIC. WE ALREADY KNOW HE CAN SPIT. BUT A STORY…
LIL WAYNE SINGLE HANDEDLY BROUGHT LYRICISM BACK TO HIPHOP. WAYNE CREDITS HOVA BUT HOVA WASN’T SPITTIN LIKE WAYNE WAS ON DEDICATION’S 1 & 2 WITH DJDRAMA
OVERALL GOOD PANEL. B. DOT YOU REPPED WELL!
Ok Mcdonald aka Wayne and Eminem>Wendy and Bk aka Jay and Kanye? Anyway Im sure that if you guys grade Wtt, It wounldn’t be a honest opinion just a bias one.
wow this roundtable is makin me like tha Carter IV lol
angela yee lookin beautiful as always btw! lol
Watch the throne >>>> Carter IV >>>>> Recovery
@blu lmabo
Wayne singlehandedly brought lyricism back? SMH (x3)
@david
McDonalds is in no way, shape, or form better than Wendy’s or BK.
Gr8 post. C4 has it’s moments, but overall it was a disappointment in my book.
REALLY hope that J.Cole comes thru with a banger.
C1>C2>C3>C4
McDonald’s is the most apt analysis I’ve heard.
Honestly, I think kids nowadays are just so ADD and stupid that they love Wayne cause they can’t think about 1 thing for too long.
I don’t see Wayne being relevant 2 years from now. we’ve been through this before history repeats it’s self. Bad Boy-Rocafella-Ruff Ryders-G-Unit-Murder Inc-Death Row-Dipset-YMCMB there’s no long term loyalty in hip hop anymore, they’ll be off the face of the planet soon and somebody else will take the number one spot and B-dot will be sitting in another roundtable talking about some one else- freshsideny.com !!!!
agree with that guy so much- wayne just needs to think out what hes trying to say, and write down his sih
b.dot nailed it- exactly my thoughts
So basically Lil’ Wayne songs are for the less intelligent people, say’s it all looking at some of these comments from Wayne fans.
WTT >>> C4
just on the basis that it makes sense and there is some form of structure to the song choice, C4 just seems rushed, no thought process or concept behind it, guess he wanted to get something put together after his jail release to try and take advantage of the free promotion
@WORD – TOTALLY AGREE THAT SECTION 8.0 IS THE BEST OF THE YEAR AND THAT I HAVE HEARD IN SOME TIME.
P.S – B.DOT WITH THIS DAMN DURAG AND DINGY WHITE TEE #CMON SON (NO HATING JUST SAYING WE GOTTA DO BETTER HOMIE)
Wayne isn’t the “best rapper alive”, he’s the most popular rapper alive.
WTT>>>>C4
what people like or don’t like cannot be quantified..you know why rock stars get to make music forever? cause their fans aren’t stupid enough to constantly compare them to other rock stars.
compare and fight. divide and conquer. we still living under willie lynch slave syndrome…
how to make a slave= how to make a hip-hop fan
like who you like and move on..
the fuck? i wasn’t aware wayne is the only one that represents my age group. wayne is wack, he has some good songs but not enough to be branded the greatest or close to it. i love rappers who have way better skill lyric-wise (ie jay, lupe, etc) i hope wayne doesn’t represent us, if he does, damn…i don’t know what to tell you.
they’re not talkin abt EMINEM becuase nobody talks abt Eminem..u wanna talk abt manufactured success..look no further..he is now an internet legend..the rapper of all white folks dreams..they r havin a “REAL” discussion tht actually happens..ppl talk about the C4 album and WAtch the Throne..regardless of which one u like..EMINEM’s albums are not discussed when talking abt relevant music in todays hiphop and if u asked any “hiphop writer” they would giv u a top ten ten tht dont include that boy…
WTT kills Carter IV. Wayne just talking to a lot bigger demographic. Im 25, and I’d rather put on The Black Album over Carter II
wayne finna be 30
WHY IS BUYING 10 MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF RECORDS HARD TO DO. THEY ARE WORTH OVER 100 MILLION AT YMCM. THEY BOUGHT THE ALBUMS TO PUSH HIM TO PLATINUM AND KEEP THE BRAND RELEVANT. THE BRAND IS WORTH MOE THAN THE ALBUMS. YMCM T SHIRTS RAKE IN MORE THAN THE ALBUMS, CONCERTS MAKE MORE THAN THE ALBUMS, ENDORSEMENTS AND GUEST APPEARANCES EARN MORE THAN THE ALBUMS. 10 MILLION TO SAVE A 100 MILLION DOLLAR BRAND IS A NO BRAINER. ROOM DEAL WITH BEST BUY AND WALMART IS ALL U NEED. U SCAN THEM FOR US AND WE SEND THE CHECK.
Get a back room deal with the major retailers and they scan the disks and u mail them the check with a little interest of course.
lets be real if C4 didnt sell this many records, there would be NO roundtable discussion and def no damn comparison between it and WTT. WTT was a hard banging piece of art, both artists took their time with their craft and put out a solid project that was all about the music and not the industry, not the sales, just about quality music. C4’s main goal from the jump was to SELL thats about it. that mcdonalds comparison was on point.
I never even comment, but I had to. This shit was stupid. Why the fuck do you have four middle-aged dudes and a timid younger female on a panel talking about the carter IV? Of course there going to bash it… why not have a diverse panel? They want to say shit about his fanbase and the “young” generation, why not have someone from that age bracket in the conversation?
Shit was stupid. We all knew exactly what was going to be said before we even clicked the play button. Getting in front of the camera just to hear yourselves rant about your back-in-my-day-ass views is pretty corny. Of course ole girl wasnt going to go against the grain and ruffle their feathers… she HAD to go along with the crowd. And then dude says shit like you wont find a black person at a wayne concert… other dude on the panel just fucking said he took his son to see wayne!
Ive been to 1 wayne show and 2 jay-z concerts and the demographic was about the same… about 65% white & 35% black. And I live in the Northeast and I know a good number of people that bought WTT & Carter IV. This is why The Source hasnt been relevant in years, super biased extra corny shit.
Look Wayne ain’t terrible by any stretch but I do think punchline over punchline can get tiresome. Carter 4 has its moments and then it doesn’t. As for jay-z he too has his moments and other times he’s alright. Now people killing it right now as for awhile is Royce Damn 5’9″ and tech n9ne as well as Kendrick Lamar and Tyler the Creator. Oh games new album is pretty good as well. Stop hating unless your a lyricist either listen or don’t. SO EVERYBODY GROW UP!!!
.
Carter 4 is just not a good body of work for Wayne IMO.I loved carter 1 and 2 and respect 3 as a album he grew and went mainstream on but,this album was just not that good to me.Couple of hot songs but,a lot of weak bars and average beats.No hate.Honestly he didn’t cover the type of ground he did before.It’s so random
Rebirth is not platinum as far as what I saw it’s at like 776K
