At Georgetown University this Fall, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson is conducting a course revolving around Jay-Z. While at Hov’s charitable event two weeks ago, Dyson spoke to MTV about the class. YN would make one helluva of a T.A.

[…] College Class On Jay-Z Published on October 12th, 2011 Hip Hop has moved to the cirriculum, well at least that’s the case at Georgetown University this Fall. Dr. Michael Eric Dyson is conducting a course revolving around Jay-Z. While at Hov’s charitable event two weeks ago, Dyson spoke to MTV about the class check the video below. Check out the course pic below courtesy of Rap Radar. […]
I’m officially transferring….
NICE !
I wonder how many classes will be spent studing ether.
this is why sociology can never be a science !!!
Reasonable Doubt is worthy of a course.
But is this course more focused on Jays accomplishments?
Either way, good job Dyson!
1 Tupac
2 Nas
3 Jay Z
Now it needs a Rakim and Dead Prez class.

thats an embarassment…if i went to a school that had a class about a rap artist i would not want people to know…
…… is an idiot. Georgetown is among the top universities in the United States. Eric Dyson thought it would have made a good course and the department head agreed.
OMG…where do i sign up to learn the impact of a Top 5 rapper w/ the least amount of substance…do I get extra credit for figuring out why a 40 year old still raps about “cooking in the kitchen”?? FOH
So……
This could be talked about in a music class. Where its relevant.
An entire class devoted to rap artists is just ridiculous imho.
But to truly make a determination, I’d have to see what the course work looks like.
good look. I wish every person that thinks they know hip-hop and hate on this man would have to take this class they could learn alot.
If they had a William L. Roberts class. Would it be Criminal Justice or Acting & Playwriting?
^LMAO!!!!
Jay-Z has substance, not all the time cause he wants to sell but listen to old Jigga and even on WTT he did Murder 2 Excellence and New Day = 2 of some of the best songs this year.
I dont get it. So you can have music courses for other genres like Jazz, Rock, Pop, and so on…but a course about Hip Hop is a bad idea? Or is it because its a course about one artist? That could be debated whether or not hats a bad idea but a course about Hip Hop has my vote.
This Dyson dude is a complete Fraud. This mutheafucker tried to turn the statements Bill Cosby made about what Black people name there kids into a book.GTFOH.
Yo YN, upload that Reema major video you know she’s THE ONE!!
@stop Yeah sociology may never be seen as a science but it has a lot more heart than the “sciences”….just take a Soc course and you will see.
jayz does it all…this is crazy..
…

G! Man I wish I could take that class. Jay-Z the real greatest rapper alive. Im currently reading Decoded. If you haven’t read that book, I highly recommend it. It shows why Jay is the best. JAY HOVA
im sick of this camel…
That’s a hell of way to fulfill your liberal arts pre req’s. Clap for em. Time to tell CSULA to kick rocks. Transfer!!!
Learning about jay-z isn’t going to help you in the real world! Take an elective course on something that can help you in life. I swear these so called “Black leaders” are more dangerous to us than the opposition is.
