DB is a pretty familiar face in activism. During his 2-hour presence at yesterday’s protest in Manhattan, the Mississippi native spoke to MTV while in Zuccotti Park.
One of my only criticisms of hip-hop right now is that we all … have become so corporate that people don’t even feel like we’re a part of the people especially rappers and punk rockers. People always felt like we were them, we were their voice.”

Hes just a drop in the pond.
Much respect to Banner but nothings going to change unless the heavyweights DO something.
Its okay Banner, keep fighting that good fight. I see you.
Nice! I like people speaking out the truth in simple words!
The heavyweights are part of the problem. Expecting the solution to come from them is akin to asking a thief to safeguard your house while your on vacation. Mainstream (corporate) Hip Hop is officially a tool of the TPTB as oppose to being a voice of the community is Banner’s main point. I dare a current platinum rapper to address the OWS on record, I wont hold my breath…
Hmmmmmm, that wasn’t Wall Street. David Banner occupied a New York City cab ride.SMH
