well the sample is even named in the actual booklet which means they cleared the sample so somebody aint either got no publishing or his check aint been sent yet by the company
Shawn says:
The sample being named and being cleared are two different things. They may have been in the midst of negotiating and the ink didn’t dry… It’s nothing.. Give Old’ Dude a Fish Fry and a Fifth of Corn Liquor and he’ll be straight
The crazy thing is PR used the same sample on Soul Survivors 2 waaay before WTT came out. Did he get a clearance then? Do u have to pay 2X for the same sample? Just curious.
Shawn says:
Kanye didn’t put her on.. R Kelly did.
Negrito says:
Yep Kelly did put her on
party people says:
can kanye west make a beat without sampling?
yo says:
^
well for starters, kanye west didn’t make this beat.
ctg says:
Did you know that Chad Ochocinco is her brother?
Anyway, she’s kinda wrong because Pete Rock said he never used the Syl Johnson sample when he made the beat. That part was added after by Kanye, who co-produced “The Joy” along with Mike Dean and Jeff Bhasker.
Strong Arm Steady used the original version of the beat for “The Joy” on a song called “Makings of You”:
As you can hear Kanye, Dean and Bhasker touched it up a bit. The Syl Johnson sample isn’t on the original beat Pete Rock produced.
It might not matter to the lawsuit who did what on the beat since everyone is listed as a producer, but for the record Pete Rock had nothing to do with that sample being on the song.
KidCassette says:
@SHAWN You wouldnt name a sample in the credits and liner notes unless u cleared otherwise its a big ass lawsuit im pretty sure jay and kanye got all there samples cleared guaranteed
Mz Indie says:
Kanye did not put Syleena Johnson on….N WTH does her father suiing Kanye have to do with her for you to be calling HER out of her name…Ms. Johnson has just released her fifth Album “Chapter V:Underrated” and has done numerous appearances with some of the BEST in the game… No body put her on she worked her ass off to get to where she is…
DJ Sherman says:
This is business, never personal.. All the foolish name calling towards Syleena is stupid. Business is business.. BTW, Syleena was hot before the All Falls Down track.. Do your research..
You guys just don’t know what artist go through. Nobody gave her the voice to sing so how they put her on. She developed and mastered her craft all on her on. As for features and records that people wrote for her, nobody has ever just made it off no features or someone not affiliating themselves with other big name artist. I’m her nephew and I know the real story as for the haters “Ha” cause I know you mad that why you call her out of her name. Shout out to Chad Johnson. The Johnson family is strong over here.!!!!
Hi there just
came upon your blog via Google
after I entered in, “Rap Radar :: Syleena Johnson On The Throne Lawsuit” or perhaps something similar (can’t
quite remember exactly). Anyways, I’m pleased I found it simply because
your subject
material is exactly what I’m searching for (writing a university paper)
and I hope you don’t mind if I collect some information from here and
I will of course credit you as the reference. Thank you.
