Rick Ross guaranteed that his new album God Forgives I Don’t was dropping this December. But now, things have changed. According to Island Def Jam Senior VP of Marketing, Chris Atlas:
“I think we’re all aware of his recent health issue, and based on some of the minor setbacks with that, we weren’t able to confirm certain opportunities, because he physically wasn’t able to deal with certain things at the time,” says Atlas. “We want this to be his biggest album — we know it’s going to be his biggest album — so we did not want to pressure him into releasing an album based on the sake of a date.

Health issues delayed him, not hard to understand at all. It’s not easy putting out an album, theirs a lot of deadlines involved. I’d rather have a quality album on a later date than half fast album just to meet a deadlines. Drakes album was pushed back so he can give it to us in its entirety.

The two singles didn’t do that well, but I don’t think that’s the reason for the push back. Having a hit single doesn’t equate an album that sells well, just look at Kanye’s record. Shit, Wale and J Cole’s record didn’t have a hit single, and they sold well as well.
