Mystikal & Birdman On Cash Money Deal
Last month, Mystikal joined Busta Rhymes by signing with Cash Money. In a press release today, Baby and Mystikal discussed their new partnership:
It is an honor to get the opportunity to work with Mystikal, as we have a long history together. He is a great artist and his talent, combined with our hard work and strong team, is going to result in some of the best music of his career. We are expecting great work from Mystikal. Slim and I already have him in the studio working on his first album for Cash Money.
Mystikal adds:
It has been a truly long time since I have felt like a rapper and with this signing, and partnership, Birdman and Slim have given me my life as a rapper back. I am ready to go. I am going to put my red Superman drawers, cape and boots on and go! This is a huge moment for me and I am truly excited to be with Cash Money Records”.
Mystikal’s next album is expected for a Spring 2012 release and Funk Flex will premiere his first single “Original” featuring Lil Wayne and Birdman tonight.

Hasn’t Birdman heard the expression, “Too many cooks will spoil the soup”? It seems like for every album that comes out on Cash Money/Young Money they sign three new goons. There’s no way they’re gonna be able to keep pumping out successful albums when they already dropped their biggest artist’s albums and have the rest of the chaff to deal with. What happens when Drake, Wayne and Nicki run out of music? You think the world is really gonna buy Tyga, Lil Twist, Cory Gunz and Gudda Gudda albums like that? Nah. And I’m sure we’ll see “Billionaire Minds 5” before a Jay Millz album.

That’s standard business in the industry…Def Jam for example has over 50 artists signed right now and have released a grand whooping total of 5 albums this entire year…the same number as Cash Money. The majority of signed artists never even actually release an album.
