’11 Best Albums: #2 Drake Take Care
Drake season has returned. Could he do it again? Yes, he can! Back with his trusty production visionary, Noah “40” Shebib, these Toronto kids delivered a terrific second album. Unified in their independence, the OVOXO Hit Squad shine on captivating cuts like the Weeknd-featured “Crew Love” and “The Ride”. Even the outside guests here are sewn into the fabric of their surroundings rather seamlessly. Wayne gets his swagger back on the rollicking “HYFR”, Minaj dabbles all over “Make Me Proud,” while 3 Stacks swoons all over “The Real Her”. Maintaining his coveted R&B instincts, Drizzy enlists Stevie Wonder’s touch for “Doing It Wrong”, resurrects Jon B.’s career on “Cameras” and pays homage to his fam with as much passion as Pac on “Look What You’ve Done”. Like it or not, Drake knows how to sequence his best of both worlds (rapping and singing) like no other. Show some gratitude, hip-hop heads.
How much longer can you ride jayz dick
yeah this was a solid album, I agree with putting in at number 2. Guess who is number 1? Throne
NIGGA PLEASE… if i wanted to listen to boyz 2 men then id listen to boyz 2 men… Not degrassi reject ina wheelchair. i am not a hater, im a fan of great rap music. Its pretty pathetic when drake is #2 compare this to all eyez on me or life after death… It kight as well be kidz bop 23
Hov haters always crying… LOL… What u thought it was gonna be? WTT CONTROLLED THE WHOLE SUMMER AND FALL.
Can’t hate. Drake deliverd an amazing album.
Hip hops full of kanye and jay dick riders, this about technically was a better musical masterpiece, sold more in the first week than throne did in its first 2.
Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t. Just sayin’
should of been in the “‘!! Best R&B Albums”
Loved the album, still doesn’t live up to “So Far Gone”… But really good.
Wtt didn’t control shit… Niggas been performing the same song like 20 times each show. Takecare has more replay value, It can actually last till the summer. I bet y’all stains CANT WAIT till another throne album
@RNS. Your right homie. Best R&B album of 2011.
“this about technically was a better musical masterpiece” – RK
You’re an idiot on multiple levels and the production on watch the throne > take care, and it’s not even close
Not really a good album at all
This should be #1 and The Weeknd #1 mixtape, what else is there to say besides OVOXO
Amazing album, expect the internet elitists to hate it but what ever tho.
No mention of the Kendrick Lamar cut huh? This was definitely one of the top albums of the year but this list wouldve been perfect if Cole and Kendrick were in the top 5.
“Watch the Throne” was better than “Take Care”?. . . . . Ummmm. Nah man. Just, nah.
Don’t get me wrong, “Watch the Throne” is a solid piece of work but, let’s really keep it Honest now. Jay an Kanye really wasn’t too, Creative on this Project. They, basically talked about there Success and there Wealth. I understand that was the Theme of the Project but, damn.
When you start off with a track like, “No church in the Wild”, You should of kept going in that Direction. So, basically, I wish they were more Creative. As far as “Take Care” goes. Plain an simple, it was the Better album. To me at least.
Lyrics, Production, Theme, etc. It was a better album than “Watch the Throne”. My only problem was that, it was all over the place. It should of been rearrange better.
But when it’s all said an done, people in the future will calm this as a Classic. Like how “Reasonable Doubt” is praised now
Watch The Throne was a DUET album, let’s not forget. Take Care was a SOLO and it had more track numbers. I still have Take Care songs on repeat, til this day.
Twas a masterpiece.
OVOXO
That OVO and that XO is everything you believe in, i know.
def one of the dopest artist doing it….say what you want!!
