Jay-Z 40/40 Club Opening At Barclays

Hov opened the doors last night to the 40/40 Club inside the Barclays Center. DJ S&S provided the soundtrack while his Roc Stars J.Cole, Rihanna, and hosts of basketball players helped him celebrate. Tonight kicks off the first of eight shows at the arena.

“I walked around here earlier and I just seen everybody busy and at work trying to finish up and it was a great feeling,” Jay-Z told gathering press as he entered the 40/40 for its grand opening. “A guy stopped me in the hallway and said, ‘Man this is a great thing for New York City.’ And that’s what the whole thing was about.

  1. Black Shady says:

    How can you hate on this nigga? true definition of a hustla

  2. HJOOD says:

    can’t hate on a dude who prett much put Brooklyn on his back, dude madebig things happen for the city. too bad he isn’t loyal and shitted on alot of his peers to get to the top, that kind of draws me away from this guy

  3. JimboFranko says:

    Sounds like a disconnected rich person. The guy working for you isnt going to tell you the truth about the situation. A good look for NEW YORK, but is it a good look for BROOKLYN?

  4. onenutned says:

    Jay care about business..nothing wrong with that.

  5. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

    Nice ! Cant wait to see my Lakers play in Brooklyn this season purple and gold homie !

  6. Your mother's "friend" says:

    How is Jay not loyal when his best friends are niggas he knew since he was 5 ??? ask Emory Jones if Hov isn’t loyal , i’ll let you niggas tell it tho

  7. damone says:

    I love when HATERS say Jay ain’t loyal. Ask Bleek if he loyal. Beans is bad business man

  10. Rozay says:

    I’ll rather ask Jaz-O if he’s loyal, what did he ever do to Jay-Z? because he didn’t want to sign to roc-a-fella? Jay- Z even got his name from the nigga, where is a J in his name, Shawn Corey Carter sounds nothing like Jay-Z to me, what ever happened to Sauce Money, Jay is very successful I admit he sold his soul to get there.

  11. Joyce Marie Wright says:

    @HJOOD: You sound like you have some serious “inside” information; Im gonna need you to name names……..I’ll wait. ~crickets~

  12. Jungle says:

    U can bullshit wit rap if u want ! Muhfugga

  13. Hip-Hop Fiend says:

    Jay-Z is the American Dream from a inner city standpoint.

  14. jahsings says:

    I see all the constructive critiques have been erased. So much for democracy!

  15. Your mother's "friend" says:

    @rozay FOH nigga, are you best friends with everyone you’ve ever met ??. Jaz didn’t wanna sign what more could Hov do for him ? he’s a grown man he gave him an opportunity & he turned it down. I can spot you welfare niggas from a mile away always pointing the finger & expecting someone else to look after you

  16. Rozay says:

    @Your mother’s “friend”

    Welfare niggas yeah ok nigga, I make 98,000 a year, what about you? I may not be a millionaire but I do alright nigga so let’s get that straight first and foremost , What he could have done was let him be a partner in roc-a-fella since he stole his name and help put him on, don’t have to be best friends with everybody you meet for that, Jay is about his business but it seems as though if he would screw anybody over to get there, the nigga didn’t even want Kanye to rap now he is making albums with the nigga he didn’t even believe in, you wanna know why because it was beneficial for him.

  17. Rozay says:

    And why you callin that nigga Hov, he GOD to you nigga? I have one God aint he aint it, what kind of man calls another man Hov.

  18. damone says:

    Dang Rozay u sound mad. Hov means God MC Bro chill out. Crab in the barrel niggas kill me

  19. Your mother's "friend" says:

    @Rozay 98,000 ? k miss me with the illuminati/God talk, by your logic Dr Dre should’ve made Easy E a partner in Aftermath because they started out together. Was Jaz even there when they formed Rocafella ? from my understanding Jay parted was with Jaz when the latter’s album flopped in 91 & he was living/hustling in Virginia when they formed the label with Dame & Biggs in 94 or 95, as for the Kanye shit if he thought he was that wack why did he sign him ?? that whole “he told Kanye not to rap” thing is overblown i’ll let you tell it tho

  20. Rozay says:

    @ damone

    You know what the problem with most of you niggas are, you don’t know how to be objective, you think because someone has more money than you or if they are a great rapper they are above criticism I give credit where credit is due but i’m not so blind that i ignore facts, the truth of the matter is that whenever one of your “favorite rappers” are critcized you niggas come out the wood work and are the ones who are actually mad, telling truth is not being a crab in the barrel, Also Rakim is known as the God MC youngin, Jay-Z has accomplished more than anyone in hipop history in terms of sales,acclaim, andtaking it to places no one has ever taken it to, as far as clothing,impact on pop culture, etc but that doesn’t make him above criticism.

  21. Rozay says:

    @Your mother’s “friend”

    you brought up money with the welfare shit, I wasn’t braggin just stating facts, Why would Dre partner up with Eazy after he was raping his pockets, that’s just asinine, big difference, He should hook the nigga Jaz-Oup on GP just for taking his name, quiet as kept,
    He didn’t sign him Dame Did.

  22. WESTSIDE says:

    @Rozay , Remember that song “Missing you” from p. diddy? well when BIG died, diddy came to jay and asked if he could write a song for him to dedicate to B.I G. jay told diddy that his homeboy (Sauce Money) had already written a song for Big and that he should use it instead, so diddy got the song from Sauce and the song won a grammy, and Sauce got PAID. thanks to who? yeah

  23. Joyce Marie Wright says:

    @Rozay…In todays economic climate Im happy for anyone making 98K…now all you have to do is acquire some good sense to go with it. @your mothers friend dangled that welfare bait in front of you and you swallowed it hook, line and sinker. Your points might be taken a bit more seriously if they weren’t wrapped up in so much hate: I refer you to your own words: And why you callin that nigga Hov, he GOD to you nigga? I have one God aint he aint it, what kind of man calls another man Hov

    Ask yourself 3 questions Rozay….1)Why do I care about who another man considers his God, 2) Who really cares about who I consider my God and 3) What does the God question have to do with the success of a man like Shawn Carter who worked damn hard to get it?

    Stop yourself!

  24. Rozay says:

    @Joyce Marie Wright

    Listen up Ma, if you’re a Ma and not actually “your mothers friend.” Ask yourself the same question, why do you care about my comment that I made? Unlike the majority of people on here I actually am objective with my statements, I recognize when people do good things and I speak on when they don’t, I spoke on the loyalty factor that about three people mentioned before me and I brought up a point about Jaz-O which was valid, and peopled damn neared pissed on themselves because I said something about their beloved Jay-Z, I give him credit for all the things that I mentioned above but the difference between me and you and others like you is that you take being a fan literally, a fanatic to the point where they can do no wrong in your eyes, Jay Z is dope and I respect hustle but that’s where it stops, he puts his pants one leg at a time just like I do, contrary to popular belief we all have faults, including him, sorry to break the news to you boo.
