Nicki doesn’t need to show Mariah anymore respect than Mariah does her. She was brought on to do the exact same job Mariah was. So when they are sitting on the judges’ table, they are equal.
That’s why it was ridiculous to sign Nicki. MC shouldn’t be mad at Nicki. She should be mad at the people who signed here. It made absolutely no sense. By signing Nicki, American Idol basically told Mariah we don’t give a damn about your 2 decades of experience and wisdom. We don’t care about your once-in-a-lifetime talent and the wealth of knowledge you bring to the table. We just signed you because you were cute and can attract some viewers. Oh and by the way, Nicki fits that criteria too.
How could American Idol not predict it would be a disaster? In terms of perspective, you’re comparing an infant (Nicki) to a grown adult (MC). You’re comparing a hot trend to a legend who’s work has passed the true test of time. There’s just no way their opinions could ever co-exist. They speak from two different worlds. The more I talk about this, the more I think American Idol wanted this shitstorm to happen.
