Lady Gaga Explains Absence On Kendrick LP

Kendrick’s collabo with Lady Gaga wasn’t listed on the tracklist. After K-Dot briefly touched on the reasoning, Gaga explained on her site it was due to creative differences with management, but she hopes to release it eventually.

I apologize to the fans that this situation with Partynauseous is confusing. To it clear it up I must explain this. When I collaborate with an artist i work solely with them, not with their camps or management. Its purely organic and creative. I love Kendrick dearly as a friend, but was not willing to compromise musically to the changes his team was making to my music. This is why I am not his record. I have a very specific vision as a producer and songwriter, and I always have. That song will be released at a different time, for a different project. I love you, and think you should check out his stuff because he is truly great. He’s a good kid, its just sometimes a mad city. -LG

  1. So, Kendrick should compromise how he makes music, for Lady Gaga, according to Lady Gaga.

Perhaps Kendrick can scrap her performance and use a woman who shares his vision instead of someone trying to change it because she believes her way of doing your song is better than your way, of doing your own song.

  5. STINKMEANER says:

i don’t like her music, but i appreciate that she controls what she puts her name on. not enough artists are willing to be that discerning and end up releasing mediocre music.

  6. it's the roc says:

she’s clearly talking about the his team/label, not kendrick himself. learn to read gooder.

Anyway, Don’t think we were checking for it.

    @ Nathanial said it best.

  9. Hip-Hop Fiend says:

I’m glad she didn’t make the final cut on the album. He already got enough high profile features on the album already. I wasn’t gonna go out and buy K. Dots album just because it had a Lady Gaga feature. Its his major label debut SOLO album, so why are niggas so concern with who he gonna have on there. To me the less features you have the better.

  10. cness says:

    glad she’s not on it

  11. bold says:

@graffitilives – did you even read what she wrote, or did you blast through it thinking “lady gaga’s a bitch, pop cunt, whatever, time to type something”?…

She’s saying she collaborated with Kendrick, they made the song they wanted, then the usual rap game bullshit started happening where random shitbag producers and managers started changing the song, and she put her foot down. If an artist you liked had the fortitude to say ‘no’ to non-creatives changing their work, I hope you’d support it.

  12. chan says:

so she is supporting an artist that you like but yet you hate on here?
only on a hip hop website! you know how many fans she has if she can have a quarter of here fans
go check out k.dots music thats a good look

  13. Donn says:

  18. Nathaniel says:

@graffitilives …yeah, man. you misinterpreted what she spoke perfectly. i was going to comment, but @bold said it best…

anyway, this is a good thing, y’all, that she addressed this in the manner that she did. i don’t care whether or not she’s on the album, but the way she spoke to her ravenous fans about our boi might get him a significant number of purchases that he wouldn’t have gotten. it exposed him to more people. and even if some of them steal the album, they may hear something they fuck with and Kendrick will be ultimately more successful making this PURE art… which will cause the label to allow him to continue making it without much opposition.

we gotta look at this thing from all angles, niggas.
