The-Dream Appointed Def Jam VP of A&R
“I am committed as I have been previously to bringing the power of belief in the artist back to the forefront. I share a unique view of an artist and as well as the business of music. I, with the help of many others, have ran a successful business for the last five years in the midst of the “Digital Change.”
My concentration and effort will be to the artist to succeed in their dreams and goals. I’ve been a part of watching and participating in the success of many great women and men including Beyonce, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion to name a few. Music means more than just a download, it’s life to the culture and also the people who listen. This is a new exciting yet critical time for music – ‘You Meet Change with Change!’”
One of the most relevant and successful producers. If u don’t how many careers this guy has helped then u don’t know a lot, Justin Bieber owes his biggest hit to Dream. Good decision
Congrats 2 tha homie. Applause.
Congrats to Mr. Nash.
@ Donn word. He’s been writing songs for the entire industry for the past 5 years. Why is this a shock? Props where props is due, albeit, a bit overdue.
Swear he had this job title already…
The weeknd, miguel, and frank ocean make me look at these orher rnb dudes like they weak
big things – they lost neyo so they had to make sure they weren’t goin to lose the dream too. dude makes great music, for himself and others.
much respect.
Dream shits on these dudes in terms of producing and helping others…..congrats to the homie

check out this advice for the struggling artist of 2012
I’m lost. Does Roc-a-Fella still function as a label, imprint, or management company?
Or can anybody can get a chain now days?
The way i see it the music industry needs new blood, young hungry niggas(&bitches) with new ideas with an ear for new fresh music . Where are this decades Russell Simmons, Suge Knights, Easy E’s, Puff daddy’s, Kevin Liles, Andre Harrels, Lyor Cohens ??? etc. Sure dream has written a few hits but has he ever really broken an artist ? i know he executive produce Nevea’s last album & we all know how that turned out. good luck to him tho
Excuse the typo.
damn…Def Jam gives those Roc chains to anybody nowadays lol
Props to The Dream….he’s behind so many hits!!! well deserved
thats stupid of def jam they are falling off how do u give the VP of A&R title to a artist. R&B is going to make a come back. either a good singer is goint to get passed on because he doesnt want them to come up or its now going to take every rapper to do a collab with a R&B artist just to get looked at WTF am i talking about it doesnt even matter at the end of the day the internet is the A&R of today congrats to dream for that position such an easy way to get on every song in the game.

Dream ,
“It’s I have run” not “I have ran”. Congrats on your new job.
Sha Money held this position just before him. What happened to him?
Maybe he wasn’t delivering? Sha should’ve stuck with G-Unit. He seemed a better fit there and a great combination with working on G-Unit’s business. oh well.
Hey why does this niga got the exact chain i got?
This is odd because The Dream was named Executive VP at Def Jam back in 2009, which is a higher position and title (see link below). Is this some kind of demotion or simple publicity stunt?
