New EP: J.Cole Truly Yours

truly yours-cover

Jermaine has a stash of recordings. Today, he decides to give out five tracks that will not make the final cut for his upcoming album, Born Sinner. Says Cole:

It’s time. I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album. And I have. Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) .

Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul.. The wait is over.

Truly Yours,

Born Sinner

PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share.

1. Can I Holla At Ya
2. Crunch Time
3. Rise Above
4. Tears For ODB

  20. Word says:

Downloading now. Its about time Cole dropped SOMETHING! But y’all saying “EP” like its for sale somewhere. Or is it EP because its so short? He could’ve just said mixtape but I understand the stigma behind rappers who keep dropping “mixtapes”..means they can’t pop without ’em. Drake dropped ONE and hasn’t looked back. Cole needed the little help because obviously he’s more raw than Drake and less radio friendly. Gonna check this out tho.

  21. Word says:

Based on the first track alone…man, Cole back on that old Cole story telling, dope beats, deep shit. Cole World! Haven’t said that in a while haha

  22. jim says:

why’s everyone saying he’s trying to be drake?? drake aint anywhere near this dude lyrically. as artists they’re completely different, drake’s about making hits whereas cole’s a stroy teller. let him do his thing

  23. Slim Jim says:

“I’m trying to keep it alive and not compromise the feeling we love, you’re trying to keep it deprived and only consign what radio does… AND IM LOOKING RIGHT PAST YA!”

  24. Donn says:

They only compare Cole to Drake to make ppl hate on Drake. Fans can’t just like who they like without shitting on another person

  25. Word says:

@Donn So blame your fellow Drake stans for that. They the ones that bring all that shit to a Cole post every time.

  26. michelle michelle says:

I like this, very chill, yet introspective

  37. Chronic says:

I get where people come from saying he sounds like drake, some of their flows are exactly the same. Especially if they didn’t listen to this and are goin off his last album.

But at least on here cole is talking about more topics in one song than drake has his entire career. And he’s not singing at all.

  38. Skinny says:

Ah finally some new Cole, I definitely can’t wait for the album

  39. watchthethrone says:

Least Cole stayed Consistent now Drake talking bout his so called Struggle, Cole Been on that subject not to mention Drake is a thug now. But at the end of the day they both dope in their own way.

  48. BREAKING REPORT says:

    J. Cole has actual substance coming from a real place, Drake aka Aubrey has a thug stance coming from his TV show Degrassi days. Fuck what you heard J. Cole and Kendrick are the new blood of REAL Hip-Hop. Cole would eat Aubrey for Lunch and Wayne for dinner, lookout for the new album Born Sinner.

  57. Tristan says:

    J. Cole is just that nigga man… This is just simply beautiful music in its purest form!!!

  58. eve says:

Honestly, people say hes boring and this and that but this is REAL life shit that hes talking about. I guessing most people can relate to something he says in his songs. Face it people, we cant relate to bugahttis, ice and bankrolls of money. This guy deserves credit for just keeping it real and being a dope mc. Sometimes how hard a beat bangs doesnt matter. Just pure lyricism and a simple beat is all thats needed sometimes. No gimmicks

  59. M.T says:

this is gunna be on repeat for a while. welcome back cole. lets go.

  60. the brain trust says:

    @ Eve

People who say ‘he’s boring’ are idiots. What you consider ‘boring’ is entirely subjective and largely meaningless UNLESS you flesh out your issues with the content.

I’ve heard people call Biggie boring. I’ve head people call rap music boring. It’s just an attempt to criticise something without proper justification.

Anyway, can’t wait to listen to this. COLE WORLD forever!

  61. NEED THAT says:

NEED THAT BORN SINNER. TRULY YOURS FIRE

  62. the brain trust says:

    Just listened.

No hyperbole necessary but Cole did it again. I’m blown away.

Dude addresses issues from cyclic poverty in the African American community, fatherlessness, the destruction of friendships as a result of his fame & a lot of other shit.

He did this in only 5 songs btw. Stellar storytelling, great flow, clever lyricism. Good music.

How can people be indifferent to this dude??

  63. WWP says:

Just when i was hoping to hear some new rap J. COLE blesses my day with this amazing

    out of the blew EP.

    BORN SINNER

  64. Tristan says:

    J. Cole is just that nigga man… This is beautiful music in its best form!!!!!!!!!!!

  65. BIG BIRD says:

Can’t wait for Born Sinner it only gets real from here

  66. Dr Drum says:

    To: Future Beat maker,

  67. GT says:

lyrical content was amazing. the game needs more storytelling rappers. with that being said the beats were all slow and kinda made me uninterested. Prolly wont listen to it much just because the beats do give u a depressing feel. But the lyrics was on point on every song. Plz stop comparing Cole to Drake…. 2 different artists. Kirko is the one that is bitin Drake

  68. Lu says:

“Stay” and “Can I holla at you” are stand out songs. The strings on “Can I holla at you” remind me of “Losing My balance” and the horns on “Stay” …

  69. Travis says:

DENZIL PORTER > COLE X DRAKE

  70. BLACK EBERT says:

    FINAFUCKNLY…. I’LL BE BACK – NOW PLAYING.

  71. J COLE STEALS LOCAL ARTIST TAG LINE FOR HIS MIXTAPE!!!!!

  72. That Guy says:

    J. Cole seemed to be on a decline. This proves the opposite. Great material.
