I finally understand what happened. It’s like hip-hop had it’s Coltrane era. Most of the artists aren’t interested in mastering the craft. After all isn’t it easier to be MC hammer than Rakim? And who sold more records?
“Radio programming isn’t a figure of speech”, so all they needed to do was continue to pay for play and the masses would eat up the vomit.
I guess since our pioneers weren’t actually free and had no integrity, they continued to cosign the new garbage. Like Bun B on a Scooter remix, bowing down to the almighty dollar.
