Mr. Wilson went to Washington this past weekend to interview Wale for the third edition of CRWN. In this episode, he talks about his new album The Gifted, collaborations, and future aspirations. I should have went.

Album is decent…the musical consistency of Mixtape About Nothing is something he’s never been able to recreate. His complex bars would be much better received if his beats weren’t so busy.

Haven’t heard the whole album yet, but I like what I’ve heard so far.
I get not liking Wale, but I don’t get the excessive Wale hate. He’s not like a French Montana, who obviously can’t rap and is gimmicky. He’s got dope lyrics(a LOT of unobvious wordplay that takes a few listens to catch), pretty good diverse production, and he (with the exception of a few MMG cuts from Self Made and Ambition) has mostly created his own lane. A lot of people hate on his post-MMG shit, but “Bad” and “LoveHate” don’t sound like anything that would come from Ross or Meek…neither does the gogo shit.
Yeah, he hasn’t topped his mixtape stuff, but neither has Drake or Cole or Wiz. But he has some gems on his albums.
I don’t think he’ll ever be a top 5 MC in the game, but he’s solid.
