  5. donn says:

    Not a classic by far

  6. Donn says:

CONGRATS. Well deserved. Ppl just like to go against the popular opinion. If everybody said the album sucked then a few dudes would say its FIRE. Ppl just like to be in the minority. Great album, haven’t heard an album like this in a long time. If ever. In 2013 we got this album, proud time in HipHop.

  7. TRESSS says:

Amazing album. When I listen to it, it was more than music, it was a story of a person just like me with dreams, fear, dangers, trouble, happiness, adolescence and maturity. He stayed true to his roots he kept it original but different. God bless Kendrick Lamar and hip hop.

  8. theChef says:

Good god, I havent heard an album like this in a GOOD minute. I will actually purchase this rather than download it. If hip hop artist pumped out more stuff like this, labels could move units like it was ’98.

  9. sataniiiMan says:

    classic album! THIS IS HIP-HOP

  10. Poli1sbbc says:

One thing I liked about the production of this album is that the beats are different from current hip hop albums and it sounded like all the producers were on the same page. It almosts seems as if the whole album was produced by one person. That’s how smoothly the album flows. Great Album Kendrick.

  11. rolleshit says:

One of the best Album I ever heard!! Point Blank!!

  12. Shadi11 says:

listening to this really makes section 80 (one of my favourite albums) sound alot more like a mixtape

    AMAZING album

  13. MJ says:

This album will go down as one of the best albums of all time for any genre just like Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die and the other rap albums that are considered the best of all time. When those albums came out we didn’t understand how great they because were very young at the time. Now we have a chance to witness a classic and a legend in the making. The storytelling is amazing. It’s like a movie. You can’t just listen to a couple of songs or skip through. You have to listen straight through from beginning to end.

  14. genOTHEMANNNNNNN says:

Congratulations Kendrick, you earned it bro. You deserve everything that’s coming your way.

  15. sPaWnY says:

  21. mouRis says:

Kendrick Lamar: Single handedly bringing the REAL Hip-Hop back!

  22. raiseyourL says:

As a fan, I’m proud of Kendrick for making it as far as he has. When I first heard Good Kid M.A.A.D. City I was amazed. It’s rare nowadays to find an album so consistent and coherent with it’s storytelling and lyricism. Swimming Pools, Poetic Justice, and Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe aren’t big giant top 5 hits on the hot 100, but they were still hits, and they did their job. Even without charting extremely high, almost everyone I know has heard those songs. I thought Kendrick would go gold without a doubt, but even I underestimated him selling this much. Even though, he hasn’t quite sold one million copies, he’s pretty close. I think his performance at the BET Awards will spike up his sales a little. As long as he continues to promote the album and maybe drop another single (I say Money Trees), he should definitely sell a million. That’s a big deal too, the only rappers that go platinum nowadays are Jay, Ye, Em, Wayne, Drake, and Nicki. The best part is there ain’t nowhere to go but up from here. Now bring on that Kendrick/Cole album next year.

good kid maad city, one of the best albums of this generation.

  23. elfISHHHHHHHHH says:

Pac died at 25. Kendrick starts to carry the throne at 25 should be some good years to come

  32. The Brain Trust says:

his a classic in todays standards

Fuck all that ‘today’s standards’ BS.

Standards haven’t dipped. If anything, in the internet era, we’re far more critical than listeners in the 90s.

It’s a landmark hip hop album. Period.

Glad I contributed to the platinum plaque with my purchase.

  41. LikeJordan45 says:

Shit sux @TruthHurts real talk man.

  42. woff says:

kendrick had the hiphop world looking at him before he dropped and he proved everyone that he owns this shit. he had no real top10 hits. no commercial sounding singles but he has the classic material.

    respect

  43. Killaz says:

IMO, this is the best album since food and liquor in 2006.

That’s right. Everything about the the beats on GKMC –hell, everything about that album– was meticulously thought out and executed in intricate fashion.

  44. klastiNo says:

  53. L&HH L&HH says:

Gotta give my respect him, Drake, Wayne, Jay, Nikki, and Kanye the only rappers going platinum. Doesnt look like Kanye and Wayne are gonna go plat with their recent releases and Nikki is pretty much a pop star and I dont think her last album went plat either.

  54. Johnny Ryall says:

The word gets thrown around a lot but this album is 100% certified #CLASSIC, ya bish! If your circle don’t agree it’s full of squares.

  55. King Game says:

    Good shit lil nigga.

  56. prophecypro says:

It gets harder and harder for rappers to go Plat, for an artist like Kendrick who isnt a pop artist to get this is a tribute to how alive the west coast fanbase really is and how they were waiting for years for another superstar to come out the gate.

  57. YMCMB says:

feels good knowing you contributed. he deserves it, a classic is a classic, now lets hear that schoolboy q

  58. Hiiitlg says:

  85. yelabieard says:

didn’t like it as much as you but I can recognize quality albums, it has everything I want for an hip hop album so i’m not mad if this is widely considered as a classic.

    good job kdot

  86. DNLTLK says:

    Congrats to Kendrick, well-deserved!

  87. LOL says:

GKMC is ok, nothing special to be honest. he’s just getting love because he’s from Dr. Dre’s camp. plus he’s got co-signs from Drake and Jay-Z. you got other debuts that had a bigger impact like GRODT, The Documentary, Doggystyle which all had Dr. Dre production and this album didn’t have none of that. it’s just that the younger generation has a thing for him.

  88. ratzer says:

    Gongrats to dude

  98. AlexFirth91 says:

  99. Avatar Keemie says:

I haven’t felt an emotional connection to an album like this since Petey Pablo’s ‘Diary of a Sinner: First Entry.’

  100. Menes_323 says:

I’m Just Glad It Came From The Best Side…The West Side! If the newer generation is sick of Hip-Pop, go listen to the 90’s!

  101. A$E says:

Kendrick Lamar, best rapper out so far (not counting the veterans; like jay, Nas, quik), call me regionally biase if you want to, westcoast radio stations need to stop being held hostage and support their artist, i like other regions but fu@k them they’re not westcoast

  102. Jo... says:

I really like this album but i cant flex i liked section 80 more.

    Dude is already sitting on 2 classic I guess… but S80 >>

  103. BlackenChineseMan says:

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOO WAS ABOUT TIME KING KENDRICK

  104. RaiderBrian says:

Congrats Kendrick I Feel Yall All The Way, I Had Wanted Rick Ross To go plat ! I Feel He Deserved It But I Think Yalls Arguement Is Substance Over Style Or Style With Substance And This GKMC Is Drippin Out The Seems With Substance, Reflection, Intelligence, And Great Production…. Congrats Kendrick. I Agree With Yalll! ON This!!!

  105. Marc J Pappas says:

This is definitley a great album, Im feelin it. But lets not get carried away putting on the same level as Illmatic. Its a classic for todays stndards, but not quite on the level of Illmatic or Moment of Truth.

Give the album a few more years before calling it a classic guys but it’s indeed one of the best albums released in recent memory

  106. Cleegsg says:

    very well deserved.

  107. WhereIsMy304s says:

This album is the best album I’ve heard in a very long time. This was a perfect album from the beats, subject matter, & lyrics. This is a classic in my book.

  108. J,C says:

    Overall , Amazing.

    kid must be happy now

  109. Michael Young says:

Kendrick is a breath of fresh air.The album was a 100% hip hop.

  110. JJJames says:

Best album I have herd in a long time, in fact I haven’t really been this impressed with an album since Lupe dropped The Cool. Not sure if that means it is a classic though. XXL is so shitty and inconsistent with their ratings (way to many XLs and some real questionable Ls) so the XXL rating means nothing to me, and it certainly doesn’t mean classic. Classics stand the test of time, so we will see where m.A.A.d city stands 5-10 years from now. A very quality album though. Very quality.

  111. ggggglqgqgq says:

Considering his skills, passion, charisma, personality, …he might go down as a legend, let’s hope hist next album is as great as Section 80 and gkmc

  112. ZoomZoomDad-Otis says:

LOL @ that stan guy that has posted 85 comments no life smh

    Edit/Delete Message

  115. Draje545 says:

na you can’t edit or delete it my Nicca 😉

  116. Jay Money says:

great album, but don’t call it a classic. A classic is determined through time!

  117. Lesly says:

good day for hip hop man

  118. Lp says:

never understood why they kept saying the album was platnuim in Febutary, when it was in the 700,000 range. Maybe a method to sell more copies, idk.

But this is a big change for Hip Hop. It proves that an artist can stay true to their identity and doesn’t need a direct audience. His music is for everyone. Congrats

  119. jay says:

I would suck Kendrick and Jay z dick at the same time no problem
    best rappers evah

  120. NY kidd says:

I fill really bad for the stan that wrote most of these comments and now you tlkin bout suckin dick wtf we get it your in love with kendrick but damn you gay af post a comment evey sec.. smh we all know its you acting like other ppl SMH

  123. mor says:

the kid worked hard and delivered; I support that.

  124. STINKMEANER says:

yeahh kendrick totally deserves this and more. GKMC was a great album, best of 2012 for sure.

weird to see haters on here, but you gotta remember, there are lames out there who buy weezy/rick ross and shit, so you gotta expect there will always be people who have shitty taste in music.

  125. ober says:

    congrats my nigga

  126. Jax says:

This is a huge accomplishment in today’s time for Hip Hop music. Congrats to K Dot!!

  127. Rod Markie says:

First off major congrats to kendrick and tde for their hard work and grind in this era known as the rachet/turn up era, he just shitted on every rapper old and new with this album from sales, to lyricism and concepts!
But we have to be careful with the word classic, a album isnt considered a classic by how good it was or how it sounded it’s considered classic by it’s longevity and it’s playback rate years after it’s release. Right now gkmc was just a fantastic album with major impact on the culture, years from now Im almost positive it will be a CLASSIC.

  128. creo says:

Co sign@ stinkmeaner u hit it right on the nail

  129. Yo Mama says:

How’s someone lame for buying ross/weezy shit? Its called preference.Congrats to K.Dot for the plaque,GKMC was a great album

  130. YESSS says:

    CONGRATS DONT GO POP PLEASE

  131. ECU says:

Its amazing to see a real hip hop album go platinum.

  132. Nickey Black says:

People can say what they want about K album. Lyrically it was superior, musically it’s refreshing. If it is not a classic album then it’s great. If it’s not a great album then it’s good. If it’s not good then it’s decent. If it’s not decent then it’s ok. If it’s not ok then it’s trash.

This album far from trash and its right between great and classic. That says a lot. Congrats!

  133. The Wise says:

THIS IS NOT A CLASSIC ALBUM..POINT BLANK…is it better then the other 85% of shit rappers yes it good but deffinetly not classic..give one album u can compare it to as being classic?! Its just better then the shit thats out since hip hop has gone down the drain

  134. Yeezus Christ says:

lol fuck outta here that album is nothing special

  135. Loaded says:

for a second i thought that said keyshia cole. i was like WHAT?!

  136. still best rite now!! says:

ok, well it’s a “modern day classic” …..happy?

  137. ober says:

best album I have heard these last 7 years, congratz kendrick

  138. trexxx says:

Amazing album. When I listen to it, it was more than music, it was a story of a person just like me with dreams, fear, dangers, trouble, happiness, adolescence and maturity. He stayed true to his roots he kept it original but different. God bless Kendrick Lamar and hip hop.

  139. Very Reasonable Citizen says:

Good god, I havent heard an album like this in a GOOD minute. I will actually purchase this rather than download it. If hip hop artist pumped out more stuff like this, labels could move units like it was ’98.

  140. DREAAElm says:

the only classic album of this generation, big props kendrick lamar

  141. alphs says:

I think kendrick is already up there with Tupac, his album is more than hip hop, it’s a masterpiece.

  142. additikive says:

Fantastic album, absolytely fantastic. Kendrick damn near exceeded EVERY one’s expectations for this. I know it’s a reach, but the way Illmatic touched the people growing up in the past generation, I think GKMC does the same thing with this current generation. Soundtrack to everyday situations. Relatable. Deep. Deserves every bit of praise it gets.

  143. riiin says:

amazing, fucking good win for hip hop

  144. dingding says:

No one is calling it the greatest album of all time. You’re just a fucking idiot. It is a very well thought out album that obviously had a lot of thought into it which people acknowledge.

it’s indeed a classic, not on Illmatic level, but still a classic

  145. Charle Van Horn says:

5 mics. This is like a mix of Illmatic & Aquemini. Kendrick4K proves his worth wit this project, start to finish. The whole concept as a whole is perfected and exemplifies what an ALBUM is supposed to be. Reminds me of how 70s rock albums were put together to flow start to finish. Kendrick’s album may have haters who are unknowledgeable about what makes a great album, but over time these people will understand (hopefully) that this is a classic in its time. This CD will do for this generation, what OutKast’s “Aquemini” did for its generation. After recently being at the Las Vegas show, I can also attest that he has the performance game on lock as well, and really knows how to control a crowd and get full involvement from everyone. GLad I was in media row in the front to catch it! All in all, this CD is worthy of all the praise and accolades for it defines Kendrick as one of the top emcees and storytellers of his time.

  146. Marteens says:

nigga that shit aint certfied by RIAA? his album aint sold over 1 million yet in USA

  147. Marteens says:

yawnnnn this album overrated i give it like 6/10 smh to many boring and skippable songs
section 80 though 10/10 straight upppppp

  148. 2 says:

gkmc makes s80 sound like a mixtape lol

  149. stiroish says:

its a very well thought out and excellently executed album-the story flows all through and after a few listens (i’ve listened to it probably 20 plus times now) you see the whole flow of the storyline, each skit leads to another chapter-only time will tell if it can be put on the same level as illmatic, but its definitely classic worthy-this brother Kendrick has unlimited potential, and cant wait for his follow up, he puts his heart and soul into his mus music, and i feel he is a super MC because he has all the elements-from the lyricism and flow like a biggy or jay-z, and the content like a PAC or Nas, he has it all, and he will only get better-too many favorite songs to mention…

  150. Zeggy Shah says:

5/5 this album gives me hope that a new artist can put out quality music in this era. its absolutely refreshing 2 know that people still make hip hop music that i, as a fan, can stand by.

p.s. WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT A WEST COAST ARTIST WOULD BE THE TRUE DESCENDANT OF OUTKAST?

  151. naf said says:

shit is classic, lyrics and beats on point thats what u cant deny.
my favs: track 4 with dat heavy bass line reminded me Kanye’s work on Diamonds from Sierra Leone and the rest.

  152. sayid says:

Aaaaanndd the album is one of the best SEQUENCED albums done in recent years since Saigon’s Greatest Story Never Told.

  153. Timberlg says:

not being a huge kdot fan before kgmc, this album solidified him as the top rapper alive right now. idc how much yall dont like him,, the fact is, is hes on another level than than most. Classic album

  154. Rap Essence says:
