Jay Electronica On “Control”

Jay Electronica interviews are just as rare as Jay Electronica music. And after fulfilling his 2 verse per year quota on Big Sean’s “Control”, RevoltTV got his thoughts on the controversial track.

“I like the song and the stir it’s causing. It’s good for rap music. A month or two ago, Big Sean asked me to be on this record with him for his album. He had a demo hook on it at the time. I did my verse and sent it back. I found out a couple days before it was released that Kendrick had put a verse on it. “

This nigga i swear……….either u get in the rap game or you dont. The whole “imma tease u with a couple verses a year as if im 3stacks” is annoying!

Just Blaze just said on the Breakfast Club the album is done. Fuck u waiting for?

  4. JOHNYblaze says:

Good for kdot shaking the politically correctness of rap game, these fools scared of being blackballed and afraid of neing men with opinions. Now we need.more competitions without anyone getting hurt….

Watch for Aubrey tho he mite catch a body like that!

  5. jake$ the motherfuckin answer says:

after Kendrick verse, no one listen to Jay Electronica verse.

  6. rahrahrah says:

Jay Electronica is living his life. He is somewhere I don’t know, doing the thing that interests him, I’m assuming.

Fuck being part of the “rap game”, and the news cycle that powers these blogs.

  7. HUNTINGTON BEACH says:

Well,… Jay thought it was going to be a SONG…MCs just RAPPING fools. I swear you dudes are fucking stupid. I’m sure he would have brought his rap game up had he known it was going to be released the way it was. 714 out

  8. Trillionare says:

Thank you for the info Jay…. SMH

  9. Jerzzz says:

    Jay Who?
This mans window of opportunity is long since passed. 4 years later, 1 hot track and no album. What a waste of talent.

  10. Dashing says:

Come on guys, read between the lines
    Basically, there are 3 takeaways

    1. He’s rocking with the song (aka no beef with Kendrick for what was said)
    2. He didn’t hear Kendrick’s verse before he recorded.
    3. The entire format for the song was different when he heard it (included a hook, which implies that it wasn’t a cypher track where everyone just spits their best verse.)

IMO, Jay Elect’s verse should have been 1st or 2nd.

So Big Sean kind of played Jay Elect by doing it that way. And if you ask me that makes him a hoe ass nigga.

  11. KingJuggaNott says:

HE didn’t play any of them. Bring your Bars if you wanna consider yourself a lyricist. That’s what Jay thinks he is…..he caught all of them slipping. Get your bars up. Go back to sleep or wherever you were hiding Jay Elect. SMh

  12. /root/ says:

When you marry Kate Rothschild, whatever your day job is becomes a little less important. $400 billion dollars (the Rothschild family’s net worth) tends to do that.

  13. Welcome to Death Valley says:

    FOH

Jay’s verse was more complex than Kendrick’s or anything on that new Lupe song. AND he didn’t have to do the Nicki Minaj-style cartoon voices to pull it off.

  14. brza says:

still love his approach to writing though

  15. Dante says:

@ root they’re not even married though right; he just had an affair with her, she could drop him & fold under pressure at any time with some other rich noble dude.

  16. Tef says:

I hate when niggaz talk as if the content and illness of their verse depends entirely on what other niggaz put down on it. I don’t give a fuck if the beat was verseless when he spit on it, he should always be spitting as if the next nigga is about to go harder. What? Is he insinuating that he was misled with the verseless and hookless beat, and THAT’S the reason Kendrick’s shit was so much iller? Fuck Outta Here!

  17. ^ says:

He spit a dope ass verse tho. But Kendrick’s was less lyrical and more direct, and it changed the direction of the song.

It would have been interesting to see them all on the same page, either going as lyrically as they could or spitting as hungry as they could.

  18. AllMighty says:

Jay Verse was way better, they are rookies compared to him. he could silence this whole track with one new song if he wanted to.

  19. smooth says:

Kendrick put all the so called best mc`s in the game on notice ..

  20. NotoriousRambo. says:

  21. dodo says:

To be honest, I really don’t know who this dude is. never heard not one track from dude.

  22. jwiii says:

Jay Electronica wrote an elegant verse telling his life story from his grandmomma (Dorado Flowers) to his hood (new orleans) while telling his critics to shut the fuck up. All Kendrick did that got y’all panties in a bunch was drop some names, a common Aftermath marketing technique. If it was 50 y’all would be screaming “hater!” Fucking drones.

  23. AllMighty says:

you couldn’t have said it better jwiii

  24. daniel says:

It’s difficult to get knowledgeable folks on this topic, but you seem like you know what you’re discussing! Thanks
