With the second Beats By Dre commercial of the day we get the announcement that fans around the world have been waiting for. Eminem is returning with The Marshall Mathers LP 2 on November 5 and it will be executive produced by Dr. Dre and Rick Rubin. Look for the first single, “Berzerk” this Tuesday August 27.
UPDATE: Second commercial we get to hear an extended preview of Em’s new single “Berzerk”.

Em Drake Jay Z and Kendrick up for rap album of the year this shit is gonna be historical, Drake the defending champion, Kendrick with the consensus pick as far as having the best album thus far, Jay Z with Magna Carter Holy Grail, Em well what more can I say, he practically always wins best hip hop album when he releases his CD, wild card with Kanye and Yeezus , although not as comercial as his previously releases and bad reviews he may get a nomination anyway, honerable mention to J. Cole but he might not get nominated with all these other albums being released, this shit will be exciting.

This is a bad idea for Em because there is absolutely no way he will be able to make anything even close to his original masterpiece. When I saw the MMLP2 post on Instagram I instantly felt worried–like this is putting too much unmeetable expectation on the new album. But that’s the point, right? Em thinks he’s done something so good and so much in the style of the original MMLP that it’s right to compare them. I hope he’s right. Maybe MMLP2 is just a buzz move … Album title might end up being something different … Tuesday will be DOPE … All I ask for is PROMINENT Yelawolf placement on this album … Yelawolf will NEVER threaten Shady’s dominance as the GREATEST , but can only solidify him even further up as one of the GREATEST MUSICIANS ever … YELAWOLF is that talented — he just needs the platform to be heard ..
He’s going for that Beastie Boys sound for the new single judging by the snippet. It’s a very smart move that direction. He can’t do the silly sounding stuff anymore as 1st single, he ditched that after ‘Relapse’. Marketing wise the return of the blonde hair, the use of Dr. Dre’s name explicitly used, and the BEATS on his head in the promo are all the right ingredients to get the masses talkin’.
Subject matter-wise, his ‘screaming’ rap voice-wise and his obsession with these pop radio Skylar Grey hooks-wise the last few years I am kind of worried that he won’t live up to this immensly high bar he set for himself. If ditches the above OR balances it out this COULD be a worthy follow up.
BUT, then again, the ‘screaming’ voice is heard in the promo and on that ‘Survival’ track he dropped last week. As was a similar sounding ‘Skylar Grey’ hook (done by Liz Rodgriguez). So…Two tracks already dropped with elements of ‘New’ Eminem whom I’m not fond of. The only thing left to do is just wait and see…I’m not sure but I can’t judge yet. So I’ll just wait

When I first saw the commercial I got psyched that it was not only another album, but a sequel to his best album. But I do agree there is probably no way in hell this will end up being anywhere near as good as the original. What it hopefully will be though, is the best rap album of this year and another solid album to add to Em’s discography. I’m sure he’s aware of the mammoth bar he’s set for himself, I’d like to believe he won’t deliver a bullshit project.

While I’m ecstatic that a new Eminem album is finally on the horizon, why oh why would he choose “MMLP2” for the title? The Marshall Mathers LP was amazing but why tarnish it with a sequel? Even if this album turns out to be huge (which is what it sounds like based on 60 seconds of play), why cheapen the original?
The blonde hair is interesting. I don’t know why but looking at 2013 Em with his 99-04 hair is a little unsettling. Is it deja vu, a weird time warp, poking fun at past behavior, or simply new sound with an old character? I don’t see it as the return of Slim Shady to me because in Relapse and Recovery, O felt that Eminem and Slim Shady had meshed into one person.

My favorite part of what I’m hearing of this, is his obvious Beastie Boys homage. Besides the visuals it’s the cadence and flow is him meets Beastie Boys. I’m really interested to hear how this turns out.
MMLP was great when it was released, but it doesn’t have the replay value of TES, this many years later. Anyway, hype as fuck for this album.
I can understand some ppl are worried about destroying a classic and shit, but hey, MMLP1 wont be changed, even if this new one will suck.

Everytime some new eminem drops i feel some sort of hope it might be good. Then i listen to it, and don’t really like it.. the screaming, rock, weird, too aggressive. And then i convince myself that he still can rap incredibly well, but not on that particular track…. It’s kinda like watching Ronaldinho play nowadays…keeping your hopes up

Eminem Show is my personal favorite, even I love MMLP and SSLP too. TES is just too good though. His most personal. Used his more natural voice. Produced damn near the whole thing himself. Amazing, amazing album.

Yeah…this album is about to fail if the last few years are anything to go by. The shouting delivery this dude has been on since Recovery has turned me away from all his recent music. Eminem just doesn’t have the same kind of flow and delivery to live up to the MMLP name. I doubt he’s reigning his new style in and going back to a more subdued aggressiveness but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Still, I doubt this album will be better than Relapse, forget about touching MMLP.
