  1. punk says:

anyone notice in the video that Kendrick is drinking vodka? (or what if water is in there?)

anyway, the guy is starting to get the ’94 Method Man haircut from “Tical”.
    the song is interesting, too.

  2. Mr.Stealyogurl says:

    Wtf is a j.cole?!

  3. Louiev says:

    Wow…this is beyond awesome.

  4. Megamind says:

This boy on another level….as an “old head”…who grew up on Rakim, EPMD, KRS, PE, NWA, Geto Boys, Kast, etc….this cat brings a smile to my face. He’s a lyrical beast and he’s carrying the mantle well!

    Megamind

    1. Dafuq says:

Same here g. It’s refreshing to hear music that is gritty and thought provoking.

    2. cmonhomiewemajor says:

chill..Lupe did the SAME thing as this song with American Terrorist in 06

      1. The Truth says:

yeah but Lupe lost his mind in 07

      2. marty mcfly says:

check those lyrics to American Terrorist again cause thats a whole other level of lyricism. This is dope from Kendrick but lets not compare to Lupe because the reference points connected to the meaning of Lupe’s records is in its own dimension.

        1. Savimbi says:

Yea AT was and still is ahead of its time and that was 7 years ago lol.

          1. marty mcfly says:

I was just saying but this song has its own message as well… Meditation, owning land, lust, record labels that treat artists like slaves but gives them the appearance of success when in actuality todays 360 deal means they keep everything and you make 0…. This song has its own consciousness to it.

        2. cmonhomiewemajor says:

          Lupe the Killa!

      3. blackbeltbreeze says:

what does american terrorist have to do with this kendrick song? you talking about the one where the far right wing people hijack the water system?

      4. Megamind says:

Lupe is a lyric beast as well…but I’m gonna just go ahead and say this to get it out the way…Kendrick is BETTER…better lyricist, MORE CONSISTENT…better tracks/beats, presentation and performer (he’s worked on that over the past 2 yrs). Lupe is TOO erratic…I’m a fan but he’s just not consistent enough and hasn’t made anything real compelling since The Cool. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I don’t think a new artist…or established has made a better SONG than “Sing For Me…Dying Of Thirst” in a LONG time…Ye comes close with “Black Skinhead” bc it’s ultra aggressive and SO poignant especially in these times.

Lupe needs to pick better tracks to convey his messages…sometimes that’s HALF the battle. Same way they are brainwashing the youth to “turn up and pop molly” over hype tracks…delivering a dope soliloquy requires pace, tempo and melody…Thus you see KDot got Bilal, Anna Wise, Thundercat and Terence Martin…he’s learning well…long live the real!

        Megamind

        1. cmonhomiewemajor says:

kendrick isn’t better at anything, other than picking beats

Lupes on another level, dude..just stop it…like….Put You On the Game? nobodys touching that b

    3. Smh says:

Weren’t you just saying Kendrick is boring and you love Young Thug/had him as your main pic? Either someone stole your name or you have multiple personalities duke

      1. Megamind says:

you got me confused for the “megaman” cat…i’m Megamind young blood! LOL…I don’t fk with no young thug shit…sorry…only one personality…mines. Stay focus out here now.

        1. Smh Lol says:

LOL you caught me slippin, sorry to sully your name like that, champ. No harm meant.

  5. The Rock says says:

Need to hear this album ASAP

    1. FACTS. Need this CDQ ASAP. The message is incredible. Too wavy.

      Fuckin great. #TIMELESS

      1. yorapper says:

Isn’t this the same message from Lupe’s “American Terrorist”?

        1. Honestly says:

Isn’t every Ross song the same message as the last Ross song? Seriously what are you critiqueing? This was a good song with a good message we need more of this, more Lupe’s AND more Kendricks.

        2. You are absolutely correct & for these messages to be 8 years apart is a fuckin problem. Smh. #TIMELESS

          1. WUTANG says:

            TRUTH!

THERE ARE ONLY <10 DIFFERENT MESSAGES

WHATCHU WANT THIS NIGGA TO RAP ABOUT? GOING TO MARS?

            M.A.R.S. MARS BITCHES

          2. Secretary of Defense Mos Def says:

            RED ROCKS….YAY YAY!

          3. b r z a says:

            lol “going to Mars” lmao

    2. bronxbillyunz says:

ITS NICE TO SEE HIM GROW AS AN ARTIST – HE TALKIN ABOUT WHAT HE LEARNED ON TOUR AROUND THE WORLD ABOUT THE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES …SOUNDS LIKE THE ALBUM MIGHT BE ANOTHER CONNECTED STORY – THE FUNNY THING IS I CA SEE RAKIM DRIVIN AROUND LISTENIN 2 THIS…LOL – THTS THE REAL COMPLIMENT

    3. Chronic says:

Agreed. When I heard “i” I was curious what kinda sound he was gonna go for, but after hearing this I’m all in.

  6. marty mcfly says:

    That was DOPE

  7. Dafuq says:

This dude right here is transcending hip hop. The future is so bright ahead of him.

    Once-in-a-generation artist.

    1. marty mcfly says:

I dont think transcending Hip Hop is a good idea cause that implies there is a better artform on top of Hip Hop which is a whole culture in itself.

      1. Blacc Jedi says:

you never know till you been there that felt like more then hiphop..jazz..snap something else

        1. marty mcfly says:

If thats the case then whoever wants to do that should leave Hip Hop alone and make a totally different form of music because to try an “transcend” from the musical aspect of it to something else? You gotta dilute, or water down Hip Hop music with some other shit. Hip Hop has already been mixed with almost all the other musical forms so now what? If someone still wants to “transcend” outta Hip Hop? Why not just stop rapping and create a new music? If Hip Hop itself could talk it would probably say stop abusing it and just leave it as it is.

      2. Honestly says:

Nah it implies your impact spans other cultures, ie how Jay Z is a corporate entity & burgeoning political activist/sports manager. That’s transcending hip hop.

        1. Dafuq says:

Boom. Good example fam. They don’t get it lol.

        2. marty mcfly says:

No thats called being a business man. Hip Hop has its elements and becoming a corporate entity is not one of them. Its all good to expand into business but thats not transcending Hip Hop. Obviously we were talking about music btw so changing it into a discussion about business doesn’t negate anything I said.

          1. Honestly says:

Nah…you’re twisting the argument. You do know what it means to transcend a culture right? It means you have impact & influence in other cultures because of your success in one. Going on to do great things in business/sports management/whatever the hell else means you’ve transcended hip hop or you’re not just a hip hop act. Nobody is saying he invented a new genre of music….that would be called INVENTING A NEW GENRE OF MUSIC….he was saying his success & mastery of rap will allow him to respectably break into other fields aka transcend hip hop & I agree.

          2. marty mcfly says:

Ok well again, business what not the context we were talking about. We were talking music which is why music is within the context we were speaking. Now if an artists wants to go into sports or whatever… Of course thats fine but as far as MUSIC GOES… If somebody wants to “transcend” Hip Hop? Then it would be best to just leave Hip Hop alone and make a new music. Business already existed before Hip Hop and its not an element of Hip Hop and you don’t need to be in Hip Hop to be in business. We were talking music clearly. To act is if I was talking about business? Is just to reduce the conversation to a lower aspect. Of course I dont have anything bad to say about business, that would make no sense. Kendrick being able to do other business if he so chooses is basic common sense. I see what your saying but clearly my comments were about music especially after a comment was made about Hip Hop and Jazz… Which clearly was also a comment about music.

          3. GetReal says:

you not getting what he is saying, kanye west, kid cudi, pharrell they all transcend hip-hop whether you like it or not

          4. marty mcfly says:

Its not about what I like or don’t like but Hip Hop is a culture that consists of a whole lifestyle as well as graffiti, Djing, and break dancing…. The niggas you named may may music and do other things but they aint transcending a whole culture. They are part of the culture and again, there is no other musical genre that brings as much to the table as Hip Hop so these niggas aint above Hip Hop just cause they wear skinny jeans an sing like white women in their songs.

        3. jussayin says:

Nah..thats different…thats branching out into other ventures…but a good music performance or great rap music in general is great hiphop…just because its great doesn’t mean it should transcend that very genre. Its honestly degrading to hip hop that every time someone is exceptional within the genre they are automatically classed higher than the genre.

          1. marty mcfly says:

Exactly, its like Hip Hop culture isn’t good enough to be claimed or something. Like greatness means having the ability to transcend it? Hip Hop is a culture… Business is business and other genres are other genres but Hip Hop is a whole other element in itself with multiple layers to it. An artist can branch out and of course that should be encouraged but that don’t mean someone has transcended Hip Hop because Hip Hop is much bigger then any one man’s personal career goals.

      3. jussayin says:

Well said…i hate when people make it seem like making great music transcends the very genre they were trying to promote in the first place….like when kanye says…” i dont even listen to hip hop anymore”…yeah..but you’re rapping on your album so if its good enough for us to buy then why isn’t it good enough for you to listen to anymore hoe?

        1. bronxbillyunz says:

J COLE SAY HE DOESNT LISTEN TO HIP HOP ANYMORE EITHER BCZ THERES ALOTTA GARBAGE … THE GAME HAS BEEN STRUGGLIN FOR A WHILE , ITS JUST LATELY 2 OR 3 YEARS COLE & KENDRICK BEEN DROPPIN SOMETHIN THOUGHT PROVOKIN THAT U CAN LISTEN 2 – ITS NOT TRANSCENDIN HIP HOP – IT’S JUST BROADENING THE DEFINITION OF WHAT HIP HOP IS – BLACKS MADE JAZZ, ROCK N ROLL – SO A SONG LIKE THIS OR BLACK SKINHEADS – ITS REALLY JUST FUSION – TRUST ME – KANYE & EVERYONE ELSE THAT WAS TIRED O THE BULLSHIT RAP… THEY LISTENIN NOW

        2. GetReal says:

because rap has been garbage lately and uninspiring, whats hard to get here?

  8. Lume says:

Im convinced this man is cooking something up that will transcend our generation

  9. Maddark says:

There is no debate. Kendrick is in the zone right now on another level. To Drake and J.Cole Kendrick would say “Nigga please, you gotta jump and swing up to hit me in the knees”

  10. moponda says:

j cole is dope and i love his album however kendrick is on another level.

  11. PettyNigga says:

King Kendrick. That boy is beast for real.

  12. PettyNigga says:

These comments are funny why the hate for J.cole all of the sudden damn. Niggas act like J.cole ain’t putting out quality music tho. Ungrateful ass niggas

    1. nah j cole is gettin plenty love these days as his sales have just shown him and kendrick are carrying hip hop in my opinion

    2. King Kendrick Tho says:

Lol this is why Cole so anxious to say “AINT NO KINGS!” because he knows every time Kendrick rolls around, that comparison-convo gets quiet for him…

  13. alex says:

People credit Drake for stretching the boundaries of the genre and rightfully so, but whatever I just heard was never supposed to be rap.

  14. jwrap says:

I really like the music he’s releasing doesn’t sound like what he’s done before. I feel like that what really separates an artists from someones just writing down raps.

  15. Donn says:

I think HipHop is too closed minded to have one simple message. Kendrick preaches equality and loving each other and now yall bashing each other artists and bringing them down just cus this song got u a lil hype. Drake, Kendrick, Cole they all coexist in a bigger picture. No one man is above the culture

    1. Joe Kerr says:

      you, sir, overstand…….

  16. jwrap says:

Every song he releases is different from the last. It really makes me look forward to anytime a new track drops as opposed to someone like J. Cole who you pretty much know what you’re going to get. Not saying that’s a bad thing, but it really sets Kendrick apart IMHO.

  17. cannon says:

Whatever happened to that j cole kendrick album that was supposed to come out

    1. MassConglom says:

They just announced that they are going to work on it… again, lol.

    2. Dan Karlin says:

It’s being released the same day as ‘Detox’, ‘Act II’ and Andre 3000’s solo album.

  18. WUTANG says:

HIP HOP TODAY IS BETTER OFF THAN IT WAS 15 YEARS AGO

    1. marty mcfly says:

15 years ago Hip Hop culture was a multi billion dollar business… I dont know if its better or worse today but the money was crazy 15 years ago. Videos cost hundreds of thousands, beats cost hundreds of thousands from big name producers and the merchandising alone was a multi million dollar enterprise for artists… 15 years ago Rocafella, Wu Tang, Cash Money, Ruff Ryders, G Unit, No Limit, Dip Set, So So Def, Star Trek etc… were all multi million dollar brands… Good luck on rappers today making that kinda money.

      1. Joe Kerr says:

        money is to be burned……

  19. Mike Green says:

IT TAKES ONE GOOD ARTIST TO OPEN THE FLOOD GATES FOR REAL SHIT NEXT YEAR I THINK WILL GET WHAT WE’VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR ACTUAL DOPE “ARTIST” WHO WILL EXPAND HIP HOP AND TAKE IT TO A PLACE ITS NEVER BEEN

  20. David says:

  22. el jim chapo guzman says:

    1. AKB says:

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

I’m not biased the truth last forever.

        1. AKB says:

“the truth last forever” nigga shut up

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

          2. Dan Karlin says:

          3. el jim chapo guzman says:

            shut up dan.

        2. mikeydigital says:

          Agree to disagree.

          1. el jim chapo guzman says:

you agreeing to disagree cause you just like the rest of them. everybody give kendrick a pass for bullshit mediocre records.

    2. GetReal says:

niggas dont give a fuck what you like, you’ve proven time and time again that you’re a clown, we don’t expect your clown ass to like this

      1. el jim chapo guzman says:

        You like everything nigga.

      2. el jim chapo guzman says:

        Fuck you

  23. Kevin James says:

Niggas gotta stop dick eating Kendrick so much! Like 4real come on now. This shit is trash with a positive message. “I” was a better track then this shit! God, I’m so sick of the dick riding with this guy smh

    1. mikeydigital says:

Allow people to have their opinion bro. If you don’t agree with them, just leave it at that.

    2. GetReal says:

  24. Hussle says:

Never lost faith in this nigga!! He will deliver a 2nd classic in a row.

    1. Ripper says:

I believe K Dot is going to elevate the rap game and bring it back to full throttle. The rap game needs the new K Dot album like today…

  25. yorapper says:

Okay this is waaaaaay better than “i”. This is a talented rapper using all his resources to make something next level.

PS. This alone destroys Cole’s album.

    1. TheTruthHurts says:

People who don’t like i are fucking crazy…

      1. Huh? says:

Or have their own opinion. Song is doo doo, just a good message.

        1. TheTruthHurts says:

Have their own opinion, yes. Song is dope, you just have shit for an ear haha.

        2. Ripper says:

          @ Huh?,

Stop it boy before I go in on ya!!! The song “I” is refreshing and uplifting. It’s light years ahead of all the bullshit that’s being played on the radio. This Young Thug and French Montana shit needs to be taken off the air.

          1. Huh? says:

Lol just because it’s uplifting it’s hot? Billboard & I would both disagree with that.

  26. aw damn shit jus got me hyped cmon kendrick treat us before christmas and drop that CDQ full version

  27. JamesTheNiggaHatingDolphin says:

COLE #1. KENDRICK ABOUT THE BRING THAT HEAT NEXT. LET’S GO!

    HIP HOP IS BACKKKKKKKKKKKK

  28. Monkey Jones says:

Kendrick music has a poetic quality to it. Cole has a poetic quality. KRIT has a poetic quality. You can tell they arent just rappers trying to get a check like 90% of the industry currently is. Its improper to compare the works of real artist with poetic qualities. Go compare that bull shit radio rap and let them individually be great.

  29. Roc says:

Kendrick’s content has always been heavily influenced by Lupe.. From the section 80 days til now.. Tammy’s song, Kieshas song, the image of being a Good Kid from a mad city…

    1. mikeydigital says:

      I would agree with that.

    2. Rippermatic says:

Influenced by Lupe…Boy stop it!!! You acting like Lupe is some hiphop god. Maybe Lupe need to sit in the lab with K Dot to see how it is done the proper way.

  30. Danteiskool says:

Shout out to Kendrick and J Cole for spreading messages… hip-hop/rap needs this

  31. DaBoyAG says:

I had to sign in just to comment on this. This is Amazing, the last 2 months of music have really been amazing. We living in a special moment right now. Kendrick has never done this good of a performance before. and shoutout to my boy Terrace Martin, dudes a genius.

  32. blackbeltbreeze says:
