Wale kicked off 2015 last night with this Simply Nothing tour at the Fillmore In Silver Spring in Maryland. Above DMVsTheMove catches Folarin running through “Loyalty” and “Girls On Drugs” from his recent release, Festivus.

He wrote a letter after the Meek thing saying “I’m different” and saying his album was better than other niggas and he don’t get credit. I see your point but aren’t rappers suppose to be confident with themselves tho I mean yes he has a attitude but what rapper doesn’t I think people hate Wale just for kicks. What Wale needs to do is stop being so lyrical and go over people heads and stick to that simple format but still have you saying that was nice. I don’t know I am still rooting for Wale The Gifted was one of the best last year.

I fucks with Wale the way people bad mouth about him like this dude is a 2chainz kind of rapper when lyrically he is one of the best out. I think people just don’t get his music so they just write him off he might as well start dumbing down his lyrics or something.. I hope Wale fourth album will be that album to make niggas know he is in that conversation with the likes of J.Cole,Drake,K.Dot.
I respect your opinion, but I really don’t think it’s that people don’t “get” his music. I think people see him as kind of vapid actually, he had a spark when him sampling shit like Justice & spitting spoken words were innovative, but now people want to see “what else you got?” and his response has been mostly “more nothing”. That worked for Seinfeld as a novel idea for a sitcom, it doesn’t so much work as a running gag for a music career.
Also it’s impossible to ignore that him going from “underground upstart” to acting like he was already a legend because he had Lady fucking Gaga on a single & then going from THAT to signing to what a lot of people see as the most caricatured/materialistic rapper in the game lost him most of the “artistic” credit he built up. Wale had a great grassroots development imo but pairing him with Gaga & Gucci was a huge miscalculation that he compounded by signing to MMG & now he’s stuck in that materialistic creative limbo that Cole so deftly pokes fun at & prides himself in eschewing.
