I still just must not be hearin what everyone else is…cause I still think this is mediocre at best
I think it has a lot to do with the fact that he was great a few years ago, and then fell off real hard, and has kinda recovered from the low point he was at more recently, so all those old Wayne fans (self included) are desperate for him to return to his previous quality level and will hail anything better than his worst stuff as a return to form. I’m with you though, this isn’t the worst thing he’s put out recently by far, but its just not that good when looked at objectively. I’m not happy to say it, but Wayne’s time at the top, at least lyrically, is far behind him at this point.
Believe me, I wish as much as everyone that he comes out with the carter 5 and its fire. But with his track record these past few years I just don’t see him making an impact. Especially with guys like cole, Kendrick, KRIT and others bringing back hip-hop that actually has a point to it and isnt just party music
