A few weeks ago, Dame Dash presented his former protege Kanye West, with a BET Honors Visionary Award. During Kanye’s acceptance speech he spoke on his conversations with Minister Farrakhan, Kim Kardashian’s father, mental slavery.
What has Kanye created which is so special?
He’s got four very good albums and two wack ones 808 & Yeezus.
Autotune sucks everyone knows it.
All the records Kanye wants to sing on, he has to get someone like Rihanna or Sia to be on it etc.
I love Ye as a producer and Graduation, Late Registration, Dark Twisted Fantasy and College Dropout are good albums. I’m not going to talk about Watch the throne.
What has he done for Art? Nothing.
Fashion? Nothing really. Horrible sneakers and they have over expensive.

oh and sidenote, 808s is a great piece of work, the industry all ran with kanye sound on that album which was originally suppose to be a mixtape called “T-Pain Sounds” but then heartless blew up and he decided to drop it as an album, but still he changed the game with that one, whether you like it or not.

You didn’t exagarate it with him being the only only in hip hop wearing a polo shirt. Literally everyone in hip hop, aside from Andre 3000 wore the same baggy clothes (not that I mind, only about a year ago I abandoned by own baggy clothes for something more stylish).
But his fashion did also have negative consequences of bringing (in collaboration with Wayne) that skinny jeans trend and skirts and what not.

“He’s not scared of failure” I loathe and hate sometimes what Kanye says. Just because I think it is detrimental to hip-hop. But it would be wrong to think that. Kanye has conditioned himself to not filter out anything, having to think of the filter hampers his creativity so fuck it, he just rolls with it and accepts his consequences later. I think Kanye West knows that he makes many mistakes but I think I think successful people are constantly making mistakes because they do not want to get off wherever they are exploring in that moment, wherever it takes them even if it alienates the utmost commercial of music fans. The music is what matters and it is his music that the average rap fan will absolutely not get because quite frankly its hardly Hip-Hop, it is something much different. He does not play within the boundaries, this is in part why I think he is the way he is, he has worked his way to this point his whole life AND hip-hop fans may take credit for him but quite honestly we cannot.
