The 2015 Juno Awards honored Canadian music artists last night at the FirstOntario Centre. During the ceremony, the “Best Artist Of The Year” took to the stage to perform “Earned It”. His award acceptance below. Well deserved.

I remember when this man was in a lane all his own, pushing a genre he created himself, and making music that pushed so many boundaries.
Now he is singing watered down pop songs for movies so he can cash in a cheque. I miss the old Weeknd.
This cat is ultra wack to me! I NEVER liked this cat…even when everyone was acting like he was the next big thing. He’s not dynamic at all!

Really tho this song does hold true to Weeknds natural flow. In all honesty who better to sound track Fifty Shades of Grey? This boi pulled that whole mystery man persona for the first half of his music career. Why not pull in on a check, this is his lane. The whole reason everyone hates on this is because it IS mainstream. No doubting that. However, it is naturally in the “hipster”s logic to dislike anything that gains such great recognition. Especially when it comes to an artist whos entire original fan base was full of stoned out loners and neurotic mystery men (hipsters to a degree) all together. One thing that I personally wish (considering myself to be in this category of weirdos) is for The Weeknd to gain all of this recognition and then return back to his original mystery drug influenced type music, intimately pissing on the main stream, introducing music that will have the biggest pop bitch saying “ew”.
