I really like the direction Yelawolf is going in with this album, and his open distaste for today’s fickle rap fans.
Em’s verse was one of his most genuine in a while, and it almost feels like a continuation of “You’re Never Over”. Maybe he caught wind of most people not really liking ShadyXV?

The Song had a smooth rhythm & A Laid back vibe, then out of nowhere Eminem comes out with one of his screaming his head off, mile a minute verses that sounds completely out of place on a track like this.
Em has the musicality of a Power Drill at this point, he just does the same thing on every song. The beats are only there to let him no when to start and stop, he doesnt ride them at all. You give him a Rick Rubin Heavy Metal Beat or an Ales Da Kid Pop beat and he’s just going to scream his head off over both.
While I disagree about it being one of his worst, I do get where you’re coming from. It seems like Em has been focusing more on trying to do something different musically than just make something that sounds appealing, and falling flat in the process.
Despite the different flows and musical cadences he tried on XV, it was the first time since his getting sober that he actually sounded stale to me. I wasn’t offended by the Iggy rape line, but it felt super forced, and way more calculated than that subject matter ever did with him. The album just… didn’t work. Shit, Em has a single on it, in which he talks about how he’s recycling the same subject matter. At least the guy is self-aware?
Regardless, Em’s best days are behind him, and the guy really has nothing left he needs to prove, and I’m pretty sure he knows that.
At this point I’d rather see him do the battle rap thing than make records. He can still rap but all the things it takes to make good music are out of whack. He has no sense of rhythm anymore, his flow is never on beat, etc etc……….. Those things wouldn’t matter in a battle though, since all them dudes do is rap insults to each other without a beat. Sounds right up his alley these days.

I just cant get with this new Em stuff. ‘Relapse’ was like his last great album. He’s always on these pop songs now and is just rhyming stuff like its an equation or something. Like his old shit you could really feel n hear what he was saying and now it feels like hes trying to win a race or something, just rhyming shit to rhyme.
He’s like 02 eminem and 50 with the hooks right now. This, heart break, till its gone, empty bottles, Tennessee love, American you and whisky in a bottle are all gold

After hearing the hook randomly in my head last night I decided to revisit the song.
That damn hook is haunting, beautiful and I can imagine people really relating to this song.
Despite these online critics who dont like anything, this song contains relatable lyrics, a catchy hook, nice production. And I do like like Yelawolf’s flow and lyrics.

I think this is their best song together, along with twisted. a lot of people are saying eminem’s verse wasn’t right for the song, but I think he covered his tracks if you really hear listen to what he’s saying. it’s pretty awesome that he has been able to come to this subject matter considering the type of music for which he is famous. if you don’t agree with that, you can at least respect that he has been able to transform his artistic image from his earlier days to be able to make this type of music and “get away with it” if you will. his lyrical credibility is what allowed him to do that, and his lyricism is what still shines. i am a fanboy but the song works on multiple levels so i like it.
