Canibus was a raw ass nigga
Canibus always been nice as fuck.
I been telling ppl for years that history has robbed Canibus of his destruction of LL. 2nd Round K.O. was just that, a knockout blow.
To me it was like ether..it sounded better for a while cuz it was a harder record…but ripper strikes back and takeover was the more sophisticated chess move diss.
I can hear that, but ppl largely chose Nas as the victor of that battle. DJ’s and radio stations largely sided with Def Jam and LL, they played the shit out of LL’s shit and gave Canibus no love.
Nas already had so much love, you couldn’t really sway ppl but business wise, Jay still had a win, a record that did well, had longer legs and the more successful album. I think Canibus’ album flopping, just kinda played into the narrative that LL really was the victor.
But 2nd Round K.O. is a top 5 dis track of all time in my opinion, arguably the best I’ve ever heard.
Yeah that’s true. My judement is just slurred cuz I always thought canibus won hands down untill I anylyzed ripper way after…the shit they have in common i guess is ll and jay both manufactured the beef and both got something they may not have expected, but since they both started it or laid the trap, they knew what they were doing with the response…ripper strikes back is actually hard af though. Takeover was more methodical, and then he got hurt and used the ace in the sleeve with super ugly.

But Canibus played himself HARD at the KOTD battle! If you don’t know what I’m talking about look it up. Hilarious!
I know exactly what your talking about. Against Dizaster. It was horrible.
He really was an ill lyricist at one point in his career though, one if the best.
Everyone is saying ‘Canibus was’. Canibus is! Check out his latest releases, it’s still heavy stuff, if anything he’s gotten better.
Nah he’s whack now.
