Hip Hop has lost another legend. New York MC, DJ and producer, Lovebug Starski died unexpectedly today from a heart attack in Las Vegas, NV. He was 57. Founding editor of The Source, Jonathan Shecter broke the tragic news earlier today.
The Hip Hop pioneer and Bronx native is well known for help branding the name of “Hip Hop” to the culture in ’70s. In the course of his career, Lovebug Starski released the album, House Rocker and spawned hits including “Gangster Rock”, “Amityville (The House On The Hill)”, among others. Since the ’90’s, Lovebug Starski has occasionally DJ’d at venues with DJ Hollywood. R.I.P.
