Meek Mill is still seeking justice. Yesterday, his fans rallied in front of Philadelphia’s Juanita Kidd Stout Center for Criminal Justice while Meek Mill and his attorneys waited to see if a retrial for his 2008 drug and gun case would be granted. The request for a retrial stems after recent evidence indicated police corruption and false testimony from the arresting, now former officer, Reginald V. Graham.

NBC News reports, after two hours of hearing arguments, Judge Genece Brinkley, who has a well-known history of vendetta against the rapper, has postponed her decision to June 30. Meek Mill is also requesting to have Judge Brinkley removed from the case entirely. Back in April, Meek Mill was released after serving 5 months for probation violation, which Brinkley severely ordered.

UPDATE: Judge Genece Brinkley has denied to move forward with a retrial for Meek Mill’s case above. In a 64-page document, Brinkley stated the rapper has “failed to meet his burden of proof” for a retrial. Says Meek’s lawyer Joe Tacopina:

“We are not at all surprised by Judge Brinkley‘s decision today. Despite the agreement of the District Attorney’s office on the need for a new trial, and the granting of new trials to other identically situated defendants, Judge Brinkley made clear during the hearing on June 18th that she had already decided the matter. We continue to believe that this miscarriage of justice will be corrected upon further review, and that the public’s confidence in the impartiality of the judicial system in Pennsylvania will be restored.”
